Holy crap, what can I say about the last week except WOW! It didn't get kicked into gear until Wednesday, when the university announced a new policy about students wishing to return to residence. Since this affected me directly, I took a significant interest in this new policy. St Francis Xavier University has officially decided to alienate its current student population in favor of the increasing number of frosh they accept on a yearly basis: We are no long gauranteed of our rooms should we wish to stay on campus. We must first, if we wish to return, meet the following criteria: we must have a GPA of at least 1.0 (55% average), and can have no more than 2 residence strikes against us. I'm doing fine so far.... If I pass that successfully, I then enter The Lottery. What this means, is that I pick my first three housing choices, and I'll be entered into a draw with everyone else on campus who had the same choices (which is considerable, since there are only so many single rooms on campus), and I have the same chances, as a returning 4th year honours student with no residence strikes against me, as some schmuck who just barely meets the criteria. How impressed was I? There's not even a gaurantee that I'll get one of my choices! Odds are high, but there's no gaurantee.
So, I give up on residence. Next year, I'M GETTING A HOUSE!!! xd I'm so excited!! I'm going to be rooming with a couple of friends in the top floor of a split level house that's a 15 minute walk away from campus. One of my new roomies has a car, so I can get a drive any time my lazy little behinde feels so inclined. One of my roomies and I were exploring the new Walmart today, and checked out some house wares and stuff. Holy crap, I get to have house wares!! Lamps, and dishes, and pots and pans, and stuff in the bathroom and furniture!! Real furniture! These developments rock my world, especially since next year in my senior year. So we're planning to have the X Ring party, I think, at the house (for more information on X Ring, please click here).
Speaking of X Ring, I had a whole mess of friends get their rings yesterday! I went to watch the ceremony, which in and of itself is long, tedious, and incredibly Catholic. The best part is being handed the ring, then stepping outside to greet your waiting family and friends with your new, spiff, ultra-super-magic-power-decoder ring, that will give you super powers if you click it against another X Ring! Or not... But it's still very spiff, and very important that I get this very expensive ring. 364 days until I get mine. On the nose. We partied at Michele's last night, and one of my profs dropped by for a visit. It was great! Michele made me kiss her ring.
Tee hee hee... I'm getting a house!!!
