Ah, I am frustrated. Some people (many, in fact) are so .... frustrating.
One has to understand what a moderator really is. A moderator is a user who was selected (and chose) to help out in ways not accessible to other users.
A moderator does have a life aside of the site, and even a life ON the site, aside from being a mod.
That they spend their spare time to deal with annoyances is a good thing, and it does show they care about the users and the site to some extent. You wouldn't do voluntary work unless you felt it was of benefit for others. (Except if you happen to be a sadist, but we will assume that mods are picked carefully to avoid including sadists.)
And yet people whine and complain a lot, and then they go and blame moderators, admins, the entire site, or god, or the devil, or a tuna sandwich, or whatever.
I am sure that most people involved in keeping the site running are actually interested in making things better for everyone. After a while a certain tedium might set in, and some will withdraw while others will keep at it; that's a normal human reaction to repetitive and thankless work.
And IF some action is taken it is deemed wrong too. Too late, causing other issues to follow, or not really THAT necessary all of a sudden. There is never an end to complaints.
I DO understand the frustration of losing items and of feeling discouraged at the thought that all one's work is voided.
But when you really think about it.... this is a site for socializing and playing. The ACTUAL gain one gets is the experience of talking to others, enjoying PLAYING the game, striving for something and perhaps finally getting it. That experience is what makes people come here day after day. If all one does is gloating over one's collections... well that can be done in five minutes per day, and even then it gets boring. So the actual experience of getting there won't be voided in restrospect through losing the prize.
So even though I'd feel bad too, after the initial emotional low, I'd try to look at it the other way. I'd definitely try.
@.@ Eh. I think I got into rambling there. I just had to type this up or it'd have bogged me down inwardly. ^^
