An open letter
Hey You,

How have you been? I know it's been a really long time since we last talked at all, well over a year now. I can only imagine how much you've changed, and I'm sure we both have a ton of stories to share. Unfortunately this is the only means I have of contacting you really so here it is. Not super reliable, by any means.

I'll just tell you a bit about myself. I'm out of the army now, my last duty was may of this year. I got a job at a company called Luxottica and I work in their IT department. It's going really well and I work very closely with some other departments and a lot of the leadership. Sometimes I work as a call queue manager, other times I'm a developer on the workspace project. Most recently they've decided to let me be a work from home agent, so they're giving me a company laptop and a VoIP phone and sending me off to work at my own home office. It'll be nice not having to commute. That being said I will still come into the office a lot because a lot of my responsibilities require me to have an office presence.

Speaking of home office I'm currently renovating a house I plan on moving into at the end of the month! It's not super big, about 1300 Sq. FT with a basement of the same size, but it's in really nice part of town. It's quiet, lots of trees, and the neighbors are all really nice. I do have a lot of yard, but my garage is behind the house, so the yard is split into two because of my super long driveway. Kind of annoying to mow.

Things are going well in general I suppose. I did gain some weight! Not a lot, and I've managed to lose most of it. I'm currently dieting to shed the last 15 or so pounds I need to put off. It's easy to gain weight when you're struggling, I ate a lot of fast food for the first few years after basic. It's nice to finally be able to live somewhat healthily. To be fair though the move is putting something of a damper on this. It's costing me a lot of money to make this house into something habitable, but hey I'm getting it super cheap.

I have a cat and a dog, Reznor and Riku respectively. Riku is a male pure bred husky and literally the sweetest and most intelligent dog I have ever known. He's quickly become my best friend and I couldn't imagine life without him anymore.

My two best friends Danny and Austin are doing well. Danny is living with his boyfriend of a few years named Greg, and Austin is getting married in October. I'm his best man.

I hope you're doing well. Would love to catch up.

Take care of yourself,
Devin
