Still chugging along I'm happy to say that leaving server logs running, I don't see any fatal errors anymore, which is a wonderful feeling. Been organizing some scripting data within zOMG, with the hopes that we can open things up so that Gaians can create their own events or quests between the holiday events. Still looking into the possibility of adding new maps, monsters, or rings. Hope to have more to share later. I found myself working in the middle of the night and fixing bugs at 3am. For a while now I have had trouble concentrating for work after midnight. Probably a bit burnt out from doing this constantly for the last couple of months. Looks like I'm slowly getting my energy back. The share equip list setting is finally working right. Also found an unfinished item worth calculator that was built for avibuilder. Finally prices are showing up correctly. Still a lot of bugs to fix. Hope to work on the quest related bugs next. There are a lot of feedback regarding the Economy Project. While many are pessimistic on what is about to happen, I can only assure to everyone that Gaia is my baby, and I wouldn't do anything to hurt it. The core motivation of the project is to provide a better economy and environment for all users, maybe even brand new users. If any of our theories prove to be incorrect, this system can be suspended without any consequences. It'll be exciting to test and see how it performs!

People may be pessimistic but I always believe that you are trying to do what's best for Gaia. I believe that you'll take care of Gaia more than anyone else could've done because it's a world you created. I stated on the day of your return that I will support you, and I always did, even now.

I hope things work out well in your plan for handling inflation! And thank you as always for maintaining the site!

I'm excited for the new developments with zOMG. I'd love to see the Halloween map by one of your developers (forgot his username, my bad) implemented, and of course, since we already have the Gambino Island space on Towns 2, why not on zOMG? 8D Haha, but seriously. That'd be awesome.

I myself am unsure of what to feel, towards what you plan to do with the currency. However, we can't say it won't work, because we haven't seen it work yet. I hope it does aid to solve the problem.

Thank you for your hard work. My only complaint is there really hasn't been new achievements in ages only the pay to play one.

Thank you for working so hard lanzer! I love gaia so much, its more than a virtual world to me. It it like a home and a big family. Maybe we can turn the kindred watermeat into a monster in zOMG? I say kindred watermeat because most of gaia has forgotten about the lovable water meat of fluffy cuteness. By the way why did kindred watermeat get a horn? was this intended as new story line where the meat got abducted or was it supposed to be a hitchhikers guide to the galaxy reference?

You work so hard, even when you don't 'have energy'. To us, it always looks like you're blazing around, saving the world. Make sure to take time for you.

I'm most excited to hear about the potential for new rings, areas, and monsters. Eventually traveling to Aekea, or Durem, or going deeper into the jungles. It's words I'd never hoped to hear, and it feels so good to hear them.

As for the Economy project, I'm sure you guys will try your best. It's a rough one. Making something appealing to the many means vocal Exchangers will be upset, but making something more business-oriented will upset the larger majority...Then you have the Kindred crowd, who are very sensitive about their drop rates and their livelihood, understandable with how successful Kindred can be compared to other farming methods in the past. One way or another...toes will be stepped on, but progress will be made, ne?

I feel like the simplest solution is also the one that's most intensive. Supply and demand is what creates insane prices, right? Releasing targeted rigs to keep much-loved items lower (that are beyond their six-month date, we can't cripple the cash shop), or cycling rigs instead of having only certain ones be constantly available (through Runway, Kindred, so on), would serve to take more gold out of the system and let people work towards goals easier. A...band-aid, if you will, but it would be something that could have a major impact in the short term, and give you more time to figure out the Economy project.

A secondary solution, is to make farming items more profitable and appealing, then farming gold. Kindred already does a good job of this in some ways. Some areas you occasionally get very good items that everyone wants and don't drop in price much. Because there would be a natural influx in items, if you increased item drops and decreased gold drops, additions to alchemy could be really useful. Formulas to eat up the lesser-interest items. Even a little 'combiner', like they were suggesting for kindred amulets/slots. Put in a bunch of items, get out a random item of equal or greater value. Just thoughts, probably not important ones, but if you're trying to take emphasis off gold, you already have a secondary currency, the items themselves. So introducing more items/hotly desired items, while also introducing ways to get rid of the seriously deflated excess in bulk (but a way that's still entertaining), could do wonders for bringing the economy to standard.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions, Lanzer. Please just heed our warnings of the problems with a currency change. It's not as simple and non-consequential as you may think it is.

Just the fact that you will allow us to switch back and forth can be abused. (ie, buy a bunch of 1 gold starter items, switch over to new currency, sell back for WAY more than that (as the lowest sell back would be 1 new currency which is equal to millions of gold), switch back and have way more gold than before.)

As for the marketplace, I think it's alright if the newest/oldest items are a little exclusive; gives us something to quest for. 3nodding It'll be interesting to see how the algorithm works out. I have faith in you!

Just my two cents, but I think the reason for the pessimism is a hold-over from prior management and how they said to trust them when users brought up concerns about the economy.

It is going to take a while for that trust to come back, but considering everything you've said you were going to do and have done (zOMG!), you should be afforded some trust at this point. Unfortunately, it will always be "what have you done for me lately?"

Don't let the pessimism get you down. Know that there are Gaians that appreciate what you've done for the site since coming back and do support you.

Giving users the ability to make events and quests in zOMG would be absolutely incredible and fantastic for generating interest for the game. I really hope that can come to fruition!

I'm a bit apprehensive of the new economy system, but I trust you, Lanzer. I'm also glad zOMG isn't being left in the dust.
Now if only I could figure out why I just started to keep lagging and randomly disconnecting recently ...
If you read that, Lanzer, it's not a "hint hint". I think this issue I'm having is on my end, and will keep thinking that unless proven otherwise.
But enough of my issues. I'm just glad that zOMG is going to get some love. It IS our personal mmorpg.
Also, suggestion:

maybe, for new players, you could give them the option to do the old intro (meet guy on train, Barton sewer system) or the new intro (train crash, fight the omgs). Personally, I don't know why the old one was scrapped because events later on in the game kind of connect to that intro, but hey I'm no game designer.

Anyways, good job and PLEASE take care of yourself!

Regarding the idea for new maps, my crew and I have been dying for years to explore other towns besides the Barton area. Perhaps there are some dark and spooky places around Durem, or some very mechanical-looking areas around Aekea? There is sooo much potential blaugh

It'd be pretty sweet to have something like Project Runway for zOMG except you could work with someone to make a new (and powerful) ring. I could never afford that, but it'd be a cool idea nonetheless!
