The Great Old Ones
The Great Old Ones have rarely anything known about them for to know anything about The Great Old One's is to invite oneself to madness, before Evergreen, before Utu, before Jashin, the lesser gods before even them, EVEN before the god of time himself Zelel. There was what was referred to as 'The Great Old Ones'. Their names change with time, their concepts a muddled mixture, but their forms always incomprehensible and horrific to mortal comprehension often sporting many limbs and writhing tendrils and tentacles trying to make sense of concepts beyond understanding. The Great Old One's having washed their hands of both the material and even dietic worlds, the Great Old One's live in the void of unreachable nothingness where their influence alone penetrates multiple realms without so much as a thought. The Great Old One's never intervene in the other worlds unless invoked and to be invoked is to invite the world into their void of nothingness and madness. Those whom 'worship' the Great Old One's have typically gained access to a forbidden form of knowledge, or a piece of knowledge that dates back to before the creation of the existing realms. Rather than the Deities themselves, the devout follower is fixated on understanding that which cannot be understood in the remnants from what is referred to as the time of the 'Abyss' as devotedly as any religion. If it is one resounding influence that The Old One's left it was the one constant 'Nothingness' and in trying to understand this 'nothing' does their influence penetrate the realms they had a hand in birthing and abandoned. From where were the original gods born? From what were they made? From whom? The answer. From 'Nothing' and The Great Old one's and their existence is 'Nothing' yet 'Something' from this description alone one can understand why the followers become mad in their attempts to understand and revere The Old Ones the individuals responsible for evoking something from nothing long ago likely unknowing or even aware of their own existences and existing as merely presences siphoning the worlds and realms of conscious thoughts in their attempts to rationalize the concept of what is 'existence'.

[Devotion 1]: The Practitioner having begun their devotion will be under the constant effects of Tier One Insanity. They often develop ticks, and curious habits, such as talking to oneself in a public setting, speaking out one's thoughts believing them to be in their head, subtle yet unpredictable twitchiness.
[Devotion 2]: The pursuit of forbidden knowledge to such degrees has caused the influence of The Great Old Ones to bleed into the practitioner's consciousness. The user may self inflict themselves with Tier 2 Insanity this is expressed as essentially being overcome by an intense madness. The user's eyes will become pitch black. While under this influence the afflicted will either become sadistic, nihilistic, or irrational. The afflicted ignores any Genjutsu that could be considered a [Phantasm] that affects anything aside from the afflicted directly, however, all Genjutsu otherwise such as [Emotional Manipulation], and [Memory Manipulation] are treated as [1-rank] Stronger as the afflicted is easily swayed in their madness.
[Devotion 3]: The user may self inflict themselves with Tier 3 Insanity this is expressed as essentially being overcome by an intense madness. The user's eyes will typically become pitch black and their body will start to become erratic. While under this influence the afflicted will either become sadistic, nihilistic, or irrational. On top of the effects of [Devotion 2] the afflicted enters a crazed state. The afflicted may not use any techniques which require hand signs or the delicate molding of chakra. In exchange, their physical attacks are treated as [Overwhelming] limited to S.
[Devotion 4]: The user may self inflict themselves with Tier 4 Insanity this is expressed as essentially being overcome by an intense madness. The user's eyes will typically become pitch black and their body will start to become erratic. While under this influence the afflicted will either become sadistic, nihilistic, or irrational. The Follower has become one with their Insanity to a certain degree in the sense that their body has become accustomed to the state. Insanity no longer reduces the user's reflexes. In addition to [Devotion 2] and [Devotion 3] Having become one with Insanity their Reflexes actually increase in correspondence to the Tier of Insanity they are being influenced by an equal amount to what they would have lost. They can now mold chakra as they normally would albeit erratically. However, the user is now in a state of pure reckless abandon. Pain is no longer a deterrent but the afflicted individual does not have any sense of self or ties with allies in this state. The maddened state is no longer selective and will occur once every [3] posts in combat minimally or once every [5] posts out of combat during a conversation. The state will last minimally one full post.

• Embrace madness as a component of existence {must not see the madness as a psychiatric problem and not get psychiatric help to remedy it}
• If ever finding revelation enlighten others so they may bask in the glory of The Old Ones

• Losing a [Devotion] the Devotion can only be re-attained by completing the necessary amount of missions once more.
