When I was twelve, one of my friends introduced me to fanfiction.net. I actually remember it exactly, whereas I don't remember exactly how I came upon Gaia. It was sometime in August, and she had just read some Harry Potter story off of it and decided to share. I was hooked. I immediately got a name (although you're technically supposed to be 13, but people really don't care unless you post crap, which... I did...). Guess what my name was? Ding, ding, ding! If you guessed fishkisser, you're a winner! I wrote a terrible fanfic about Ella Enchanted, about her daughter (I don't remember what her problem was). I know that the first chapter I posted, I accidentally posted a report I had done on Eleanor Roosevelt. redface I'm terrible at reading directions. Sort-of like how I accidentally, not realizing that you could change genders when choosing an avatar, made myself a man one here and raised 10,000 gold (on my own, no donations. I earned it mostly by reviewing stuff in the art arena) to get a 'sex change'. (since I'm a girl in real life, I really wanted to be a girl).
So anyway, after the Ella Enchanted fiasco, in which when I finally figured out how to post stuff, my story turned out like crap anyway, I think that was when I really got into Yu-Gi-Oh! It was really my first anime, because although I liked Pokemon, I really only liked the games so it doesn't really count. (I actually still like the game, I was playing it just the other day redface ) Anyway, I got super-into YGO, which was actually great, because it helped me gain three new friends. What happened was, at skating myself and two other girls were loners. However, since we were all pretty shy and didn't have much in common (or so we thought), we really kept to ourselves. However, one day (I'm going to give credit to myself for this whole thing, but my memory could be faulty), I was telling them a story about my brother and was like, "I was fighting with my brother and the TV show on was Yu-Gi-Oh!..." I don't think I ever finished the story I was telling, my friends immediately starting talking about how they liked that show too, and we've been great friends ever since.
The other person was a person at school. She was new, and I try to be nice to newbies whenver possible, (this one is harder to recall, so there might be historical inaccuracies), and we became friends, but became really good friends when we discovered each others' love for anime, and she let me borrow her Shonen Jump magazines, which was pretty sick (sick in a good way, not a bad way).
Anyway, now that I've gone off on my little YGO appreciation rant, I'm going to go back to what I was originally talking about: fan fiction.
so I wrote a couple YGO stories, I wrote I think two Powerpuff Girls stories (very embarrassing now, but that was a great show ^_^) and maybe a Harry Potter one. (they were, if finished, very short.)
So after getting a couple reviews screaming 'Update!' I finally decided to update my HP-YGO story tonight. I'm not finishing it, I'm on to bigger and better things (aka NanoWrimo ^_^ Yay!) and I told them that, but it was really pretty sad. It was like letting go of a part of childhood. I loved writing those stories, but I'm not going to write any more of them. And reading all of those encouraging reviews "You're so funny fishkisser", "This is so interesting, fishkisser" (not exact quotes) didn't make it any easier to stop writing, but I'm done. No more fanfiction. I just remember back when I was typing that first Ella Enchanted story, having to use dial-up to get onto the internet, and calling my friend to see if she had read it yet, and her opinion on it. Oh, but fanfiction got me grounded once.... but that's a story for another night. I sorta like the fact that no one reads these, it's just sort of a memory dump. Write down all of your old memories here, so you're free to forget them, because you can always look 'em up later. lol I love that emoticon, it makes me feel happy. It sort of says "turn that frown upside down" to me.
