If someone offers you help, it's because they think you need it. Don't be afraid to accept the offer, because in most cases...they are really and in all honesty only trying to help. Also...try not to be offended, no one will see you as a weakling for taking an offered hand.
(Please keep in mind, I am a firm believer of karma)
I often find that being soo stubborn as to decline help, when it is obviously needed, will usually have negative effects on the outcome of the situation.
At work, a young girl around 7 or so, was pushing a large cart full of various (and heavy) purchases...outside the store, to her impatient mother...who seemed to leave the girl to her task, while going to start and pull up her car.
The look of irritation was clear on the mothers face, as the daughters effort was most probably slower than the mother would have wanted....but never-the-less the girl got the cart out and started unloading the stuff. I offered my hand on the heavier items such as the 20 pound packs of water, but the mother....true to the point of this entry....declined with more than her fair share of animosity.
As I walked back into my job, the little girl was told to go back in and get something else...and as it turned out....just as the little girl ran back inside...and just as the mother was busy lifting another package of water into her trunk, the cart rolled down the small slope it was on, with enough force to put a rather large gash into the side of the womans very expensive looking convertable.
I entered the store as a flurry of rather explicit words were shouted toward the poor daughter, who had the look of complete surprise on her face eek
I can't say enough how sorry I felt for the little girl, who had nothing to do with what happened, but in times like those...there is no reasoning when a fool is enraged.
To close this...and each entry henceforth...the following is the moral from one of Aesops Fables...a book comprised of many many stories....each with a lesson to be learned:
Too often we despise the very things that are most useful to us.
