Somewhere deep within the thick foliage of Nirin a small elven like creature moved. The girl ran across the forest floor with the faintest of patters. Coming upon a low slung branch she hauled herself up with the creak of the bough.
Sitting up she sighed brushing dulled brown hair that escaped the small braided headband out of her face. Glancing back with pale green eyes she examined the quiver of arrows and bow. Glancing over to the trunk she eyed what looked like an abandoned owl's nest.
"...Silver wake up you lazy rodent." she sighed carefully walking across to the trunk and obstructing the hole's entrance and exit with her face.
Inside lay a large silver-y grey squirrel. It snoozed away despite the mid-morning sun flickering through the canopy above. The birds long stopped their early morning tunes for the day, only the nocturnal animals lay in their nests now.
"Silversong get up." she demanded, reaching a slim hand into the hole and lightly poking the possibly fat rodent.
"Asea.. go away.." the squirrel actually spoke waving a little black paw at her hand. " I'm up alright?" he grumbled sitting up and taking a quick wash, with his tail flicking.
Farther off in the woods a black stallion slowly trodded along, despite the plain leather bridle, reins, saddle and the equipment it seemed fairly happy. A tall willow built man sat upon the horse shrugging around in his armor. In his fidgeting the pony tail of ebony colored hair revealed long pointed ears. The ears of an Elf, and indeed he was not only an elf, but an Elven Knight!
At the horse's sudden pricking of ears, he straightened. Tensing for any possible attacks his ears picked up a small high voice.
"Silversong, you'll grow fat if all you do is eat berries and sit upon my shoulder! You should scavange for your own meals." the voice chided.
Looking up the man saw a tiny girl sitting against the tree, talking to a large squirrel perched upon most of her left shoulder. She was small, no bigger than a human child of 2 or 3 years, and yet she looked to be near adulthood.
The squirrel, or Silversong as she had said must have caught his scent as it stiffened, chattered and dashed off all within a couple of seconds. The girl also tensed, looked around with wide scared eyes.
"....." she said not a word before standing, hands still cupped holding dark ripe berries.
"Wait!" the Elf commanded in a near baritone. The girl didn't look back or halt as he had commanded, but jumped and dashed off into the thickets leaving a small pile of berries behind.
"... Well.. That was interesting." he said confused. Elves were known for being tall willow like beings, not small and tiny as that one. Infact, judging her hair, eyes and skin tone she matched the trees almost like a Dryad of old. Hair the color of the trunks, eyes like the leaves, and pale skin with freckles that oddly resembled tree bark patterns? This puzzled the Knight greatly... Could it be that... they were still in existance?
Yeah... just wrote this off the top of my head cuz I felt like it....
