Yesterday, I found one of my bala sharks caught in the little treasure chest in our family fish tank. We got it out and it had scraped itself up trying to get out. By scraped itself, I mean that there were entire patches of scales missing. I guess it went blind from the pain, so whenever it did manage to swim, it ran into the sides of the tank. It didn't manage if it did survive the night, it would either be fishfood for the sichlid or be blind for an extremely long time and bludgeon itself to death on the tank sides. It really sucks that it had to be one of the balas for two reasons:
1. It was mine.
2. I've had both my bals for a few years and they've gotten bigger than they should have for the tank-size in the time I've had them.
The only thing I could think of at the time was "How stupid can you be if you got yourself stuck in a treasure chest? I mean, it should be common sense for a captive fish not to swim through a hole that is 2x smaller than you!"

Nothing is ever easy.
Drink, drink, drink, until the rum is gone!
Ye must not stop, no never stop! Until the break of dawn!
We sail and fight, to show our might!
No one can stop us now.
So drink, drink, me dear sweet lass, until the rum is gone.
