So I was randomly searching Yahoo and decided to type this...

My name is Azazel d'Zeal. I would really appreciate if someone would send me a link to finding out, seiriously, what d'Zeal could mean!!

Azazel. I first heard the name in the movie 'Fallen', with Denzel Washington. Good movie, watch it. Anyways, that made me take the name. I now have even more information on him, both fictional, spiritual, and rational.

First, spiritual. According to the Bible (KJV), Leviticus 16:8 says, in describing the ritual for the Day of Atonement, "and Aron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lost fot the Lord; and the other lot for the scapegoat." Scapegoat can also be replaced, while still being biblicly accurate, with 'the goat of removal' and 'Azazel.' The scapegoat, or goat for Azazel, would then be led into the wilderness. Later on, it became custom for a non-Isrealite to lead the goat into the wilderness. Through the way of writing, it appears that Azazel is a creature of some kind.

The book of Enoch, the great-grandfather of Noah, was first translated to English in 1821. The Book of Enoch was held as Christian Scripture until the Council of Laodicea, where it was discredited. Azazel, in the Book of Enoch, is an evil, high-ranking, powerful angel. Though not listed as one of the rulers of the 200 angels who came to earth to mate with human women, Azazel is shown as the ruler of these rebellious angels in Enoch 54:4. He sought to take advantage of the lawless enviroment before the Flood, and thus, according to Enoch 8:1, "Azazel taught men to make swords, and knives, and shields, and breastplates, and made known to them the metals of the earth and the art of working them, and bracelets, and ornaments, and the use of antimony, and the beautifying of the eyelids, and all kinds of costly stones, and all 2 colouring tinctures." In his teaching of war and makeup, Azazel corrupted people. Then God spoke to the angel Raphael, according to Enoch 10:4-7, "Bind Azazel hand and foot, and cast him into the darkness, and make an opening in the desert, and cast him therein. And place upon him rough and jagged rocks, and cover him with darkness, and let him abide there forever, and cover his face that he may not see light." The Book of Enoch also states that, in 10:8-9, " . . . the whole earth has been corrupted through the works that were taught by Azazel: to him ascribe all sin." Thus, Azazel was the first thrown in the Abyss, feared by the demons in Luke chapter 8 in the bible.

Back to the Bible. In Revalations 9, the 5th angel sounds his trumpet, opening the Abyss. Revalastions 9:11 states "They had for their king the angel of the Abyss, whose name, in Hebrew, is Abaddon, and in Greek, Apollyon, or the Destroyer." Rationally, the leader of the great host that was inprisoned in the Abyss was the leader when released. If you will remember, one of the primamary reasons Azazel was imprisoned in the Abyss was for teaching people how to make war. Thus, Apollyon/Abaddon could be the same person/angel/creature, Azazel. This leader is later thrown with his follwers into the lake of fire.

Thus, Azazel is a demon, or fallen angel, trapped in the Abyss, locked under the desert until Revalations. Yet, even though imprisoned, the people still sent a sacrafice to Azazel, in the wilderness (or desert). Thus, according to James Hastings' Bible Dictionary, "Azazel must have been such an evil spirit, sufficiently distinguished from the rest, in popular imagination, to receive a special name, and no doubt invested with attributes which, though unknown to us, were perfectly familiar to those for whom the ceremonial of Lev 16 was first designed."

Ok, this is just the rational and spiritual. I'll do fictional later. Trust me, fictional is even creepier than these were!!!
