We were a bit late in taking down our Halloween decorations, and took them down this weekend. We were cleaning up and doing boring work, so my mom turned on 'the Lite fm' They have already started their Christmas music for the season! and it's not just radio stations, all of the stores already have the Christmas decorations up! I thought that you were supposed to start Christmas stuff the day after Thanksgiving. Now, Halloween statrs in August, Christmas in September, and everyone has forgotten about Thanksgiving! It's because stores know that they can't sell anything like presents or candy or costumes: They can't make enough money if they separate for the holidays! Now, we spend so much time waiting for these holidays, we get sick of them by the time they finally come around, and we have built up all of that anticipation for it, and it's over and we get depressed. We are already upset that there aren't any celebrations or day's off from school/work untill mid-Febuary and the fact we are going to have to earn all of the money back from the presents we just brought. What happend to good ol' cheer? The entire world has become so materialistic when it comes to holidays and happiness. We need to express our feelings, not just by a brand-name product and give it to someone. Let's take a lesson from the cheesy movies and sprend Christmas with family, together, talking and having fun, instead of ripping open our gifts and the kids go off to play with their toys, and the guys go play with their electronics and the moms put their fuigurines away and are overlooked the rest of the time. Christmas is a wonderful time, but some people have gotten so deluded about the true spirit of the holidays.
Those of you who have taken the time to follow my rant, please take to heart the fact that we need to celebrate Christmas as a joyous, wonderful time with each other, and spread the message and happiness to those you care about on Christmas.
