Well, I'll give you a brief summary before you go read it- if you do, that is. Winry gets a very bad disease- or at least, that's what they think- and is sentenced to stay within her bed for days upon days. Pinako finally reaches such a worrying point that she calls Edward, begging him to come back. He agrees, and comes to visit Winry to see how she's feeling and talk to her.
This is dedicated to Em (Takumi no Winry) because her favorite character is Winry, and her all-time favorite couple is EdxWinry. And besides, I can't see her as anybody -except- Winry ^^; It's not very long, as you can see. But that might be because I write big and it took up three pages in my notebook and I thought it would be long >> But hey, I liked it and I hope you do too. Comments, either good or bad, are fully appreciated :3

She couldn't understand why she deserved this. All she asked for was a simple call, and what did she get? Nothing. So why she continuously worried about these two, she didn't even know. Every morning, the girl asked herself the same question: why do I worry so much about someone who won't even take a minute to make a simple call? A mere "hello, how are you?" wasn't going to kill someone. The mechanic let a sigh escape her lips as the normal thoughts returned to her. The poor girl was so worried that she stayed up at night, trying to shake away her thoughts. The takumi had a lot of willpower, but it was still difficult for her to relax and go to sleep. Winry couldn't exactly understand why she was so much more worried than she had ever been before. Eventually, she only got an hour or two of sleep, and it showed. The mechanic was sluggish, less observant, and constantly cranky. She gradually got weaker and weaker, only to get up each morning and convince herself again and again that she was fine. Though, that wasn't true at all. One day, the poor girl passed out, and was sentenced to constant bedrest. And once that happened, she didn't seem to get better.
As this continued, the girl's grandmother made a call to soeone. The call went through, only for her to receive a "I'm coming back" before she was hung up on. So much for respect to elders. Sure enough, the next day, he arrived. Panic was obvious in the golden eyes of his, while no emotion dared to cross his face.
"Where is she?" The blonde asked, staring straight at Pinako. Upon receiving his answer, he rushed upstairs. Golden eyes widened at the sight of his beloved mechanic.. Normally, she was so full of life, so happy. This time she looked so weak and fragile- like she would break if touched.
"Winry?" Edward spoke softly, and hesitantly. He didn't want to wake her, should she be sleeping. His response was a returned gaze from ocean blue eyes. FullMetal sat next to her bed, slowly taking the mechanic's hand in his own. Winry's touch sent a shiver down his spine as he realized just how cold her hand was. Ed could barely manage seeing Winry like this. It ripped at his soul, and completely killed him inside.
"Winry.. You're going to pull through this. And do you know why? Because you're strong. You're strong, and you're not going to leave the world like this. I won't let you, you won't let you. Keep fighting, and you can stop worrying. I'm going to stay here until you're better. I'll take care of you, Winry- I promise. Just don't leave, you mean too much. You're the best mechanic ever, and the most talented by far. And you're my best friend. You better not die from this, Winry. I always saw you- married, happy, with children.. You can't die, because you supossed to die from old age. Not from some stupid disease you got from too much stress and lack of sleep. You're mean to outlive both me and Al. You're mean to be happy, and you mean too much to this world to leave." The alchemist still held her hand as he told her this- golden and blue gaze melting together.
"And why does it matter to you, Edward?" Winry asked. Though she was both touched and motivated by his words, the takumi didn't understand his sudden change in attitude towards her. The alchemist just stared at her, terrified to tell Winry the truth. But she did deserve to be told, and whether she felt the same or not wasn't going to stop him.
"I love you," he told her quietly, not removing his gaze from the mechanic. His reply was Winry pulling up her strength, and throwing her arms around his neck. Tears of joy poured down her face as she whispered into Ed's ear, "I love you too."
