Innocence, scorched in flame,
Rooted in the ashes of this game.
Embers aglow as the life still flows,
Mared and crippled yet she knows
Everything runs its course.

Mistakes were made,
Blank stares yet to fade.
Egos crushed under foot,
Realization is still moot
years of pain and sorrow take their toll.

Open wounds yet to heal,
Usless words kept at heel.
Remembering terrors that should never have been,
Perhaps they remain sight unseen
Ageless in our memories.

In time they fade,
Nearly by a shade.
Reaching out to find,
Just the right kind
Happiness and balance can still be found.
