Stuff to do to make gold?
The Do's
The Do's. The stuff you should do basically. Here's a list! Of course, with some explanations.
DO read the ToS. - The rules that you need to follow around this place. Often, greed overcomes the need to follow rules, as it is very common at this time. Do avoid letting your greed take over. READD!
DO type literally - I should say that probably the majority of Gaia's population are in HIGH SCHOOL. There are some in college. Now why do you need to be literate? Number 1, it's polite. Number 2, the poor person reading your message won't have to translate your gibberish (chat speak) into good ol' English. If you are considering opening a quest thread, do be literate! A majority of the donators are kind high schoolers, college students, and college alumni. They detest chat speak. Yes, detest.
Try doing something productive to earn gold other than poll-whoring and posting. More will be mentioned in the 'Stuff to do to make gold?' section. :3
ABSOLUTELY NO Emoticon abuse. >-> - Many people often find it distracting, and may call you a n00b to do that. When I use the term 'emoticons', I mean these: biggrin ninja crying mrgreen and such. An occasional heart is fine, but nothing like this: biggrin scream gonk sweatdrop heart mrgreen <insert 50 more emoticons here>
The Don'ts
Gaia as Do's, as well as don'ts.
DO NOT HACK, SCAM, or HARASS - Trust me, you'll regret it later. This is the part where you should not do. Nowadays, hacking and scamming are taking place everyday. It makes the person feel bad, and also, you'll regret it deep down in your heart, no matter how cold you are.
NO BOTTING - Botted gold is 'generated gold'. Like, fake gold, basically. Having botted gold is totally AGAINST the ToS.
Why am I being banned for having botted gold? I didn't do anything! - Technically, you did. But it wasn't your fault. Say you were in the exchange, and someone offers for your item. You accept, and you do a normal trade. The next day, you were banned and it said you had botted gold. Now how the heck did that happen? The buyer probably gave you botted gold.
DO NOT DO ANYTHING ELSE THAT IS AGAINST THE ToS! - Quite self-explanatory, really.
DO NOT TYPE IN CHAT SPEAK!! unless you want to. T-T - Mentioned in the Do's section.

Yes. Having 200 friends is REALLY unecessary. Considering that only 25 really talk and PM you. The rest of the 175 barely talk to you, much less notice you. It's like you're on their list for show.
And having a 1 million item inventory is unecessary. If you do try to sell it all, boy, it's going to be a PAIN.
Stuff to do to make gold?
I assume that everyone's main goal in life is to obtain an excessive amount of gold and items. Well guess what? You're not going to get it by just posting and poll-whoring.
Now, what do I do?
Do something productive that has something to do with economics.
Like exchanging and vending. Obviously, exchanging takes place in the exchange, no duh. And obviously, vending takes place in the vend.
What is exchanging and vending? Exchanging and vending are similar, they just are done in different places. Buy low, sell high. Or Buy low, exchange high. Like that.
In the vend, always attempt to buy the misprices. In the exchange, always try to offer a few k lower than lowest market price. If the seller agrees to your offer, sell it afterward in the vend for 100g under lowest buy price. Whammo, about a 2k profit for you, hun. xD
What is sniping? Sniping is placing a bid on an item during the last few seconds to get an item cheaper than it's worth. It's hard, because most sellers cancel the auction a few seconds before it expires. NEVER PLACE A BID BEFORE AT LEAST 15 seconds!! Someone will offer higher later, and when the auction is over, YOUR GOLD IS GONE. Personal experience people. Not good, not good.
