I took this picture at sunset on the other side of the mountain that we were on.
Spring break, my parents and I decided to take a little vacation to the western side of North Carolina. I have lived on the eastern side, by the beach, my whole life, and I thought it'd be nice for a change. There we saw beautiful mountains, pastures, old towns, and even the town of "Mayberry" from the Andy Griffith show. My mom works with a man who bought some property in the mountains and he rents it out to people for a certain amount of time. Not a lot of people have rented it out so far and I can't imagine why. The view from the back deck was amazing and it was very close to the state parks.

On the second day of our vacation, we decided to go hiking up one of the mountains and I am very afraid of heights so this was kind of hard for me. However, the adrenaline rush that you get from the fact that you are on top of a mountain and one push would send you to your death somehow took that away. Amazing isn't it? Yeah...I don't get it either.
Here, we were walking the trail and saw this huge rock directly above our heads and it was really scary considering that if anything fell off of that, we'd probably die.
And this is from the top of that very same rock. I held on to my walking stick with a death grip and my knuckles turned white as soon as I got up there because the wind up there was blowing really hard.
We headed back down the trail and saw another one that split off from the one we were on. It would have only taken us half a mile to get back to the parking lot but no, my mom decided we were going to take the other trail. She looked at her map and saw that it looped back to the parking lot but what she didn't see was that it was a four mile walk up hill. We were already tired, hungry, and sweating. Though it was really hard, I'm glad we walked it because I saw the view from another rock, similar to the other one, just on the other side of the mountain.
