It's weird how elaborate the details on little things like this can get.

Hollow Jerky is a substance composed of pure calories and chemicals that will immediatly burn into reiatsu once it is eaten. Other than that it has no protein, salt, sugar, fat, or anything even remotely nutritious in it. It's almost like adrenaline in edible form. It should only be eaten if the eater expects to expend large amounts of energy in the next few hours, otherwise it can cause hyperactivity, dizzyness, nausea, and muscle cramps.

It is a dense material that cannot be burned and does not spoil. It looks a bit like regular beef jerky, except it is black and comes in much thicker slabs. If you manage to acctually bite through it and tear off a piece, it tastes like salted tar or rubber. It comes in two flavors: Salty and Saltier. There used to be a fruit flavor, but it tasted like prune juice mixed with soy sauce and nobody would eat it.
