Well it's like 4:30 in the morning...and I can't sleep. So I thought I'd go a bit into my name and how I came about it...as well as what it means. To anyone reading this, you're probably like...isn't it just a random name you came up with for your character? While that IS the case with most of my characters, in Nova's case...it is not. 'Nova Zeal' is an alias I came up for myself a long time ago when I was 11 or 12...in the 8th grade (8 or 9 years ago) Back then, we had a lot of story wirting to do and we were required to put a fake name on our papers for peer editing (it was supposed to be anonymous) Well, ever since I was little, I've always loved stargazing...so I decided to come up with a name that reflects that (actually...the vast majority of my names/screen names have something to do with stars...) So taking the thesaurus tool in Microsoft Word (yes...lame...I know) I chose two words to find synonyms for; 'star' and 'love'. Anyways...about a million transformations later...I came out with Nova Zeal.
Now I'm sure by now you're like 'wtf...that's stupid...' but that's really just the first meaning for the name. The name took on a deeper meaning to me in high school, when my best friend said it suited me upon being introduced to my alias. Having mistaken the name for having a deeper meaning than it did, he pointed out to me that it could also mean something like 'starting over' in a sense. The new meaning pleased me more than the original meaning and inspired me to pick myself back up and look forward. So more simply, this name became a pick-me-up...so that I would always remember to look ahead instead of backwards at the past despite hardships. (Nova's character is based off this concept...she's a different me in a sense) Even to this day...even 4 years after his death, this name gives me something to strive for as a way to get by in life no matter what comes my way, because it is a reminder to me that he thought so highly of me. I don't know...this is psycho babble...I'm not really even sure that I could express why this name means something to me...either way...it is my pen name/artist name. It is my own... sweatdrop
