The Cat Claws
This is my own little fantasy of stories... Such as a short story... Agree? Yes... Indeed...
The Shallow End
A Short Story By: TigerClawsM

A small walk way was placed on the side of the lake with stones place on the outside rim of the walk. The tiles were mahogany and shined with the moonlight. Every so often, a girl would walk with it to gaze upon the lake's coating of glossy water to know there was a chance. A chance to be free once more of this terrible world that was pushing and hurting her.
By the time of May sprung, she looked at the lake from her back porch. She came down the stairway to the walk that would travel to the rim. She, barefoot, knew that it was a mysterious night and the air was more foggier then most. She knew that rain had just come and it didn't bother her.
As the moon hovered on her eyes, she stepped over the stones, glancing down at the lovely lake that she knew as a child. She held her hands together, the wind humming as a warning. The light on her face grew dark. She looked up at the moon, seeing dark clouds stretching over it.
Her eyes stayed the same, not even caring for the unusual feel in the air. She walked on the grass, ignoring the pathway she was supposed to take.
She went on the dock, stepping in a boat her father had made by hand. She grabbed the paddles, placing them in the boat. She unhooked the ropes that placed the boat still. She let the ropes hang on the loops that were nailed to the wooden-dock colums.
She pushed the boat backward with the push of her hand, sailing into the open water. She started paddling into the open lake, the scent of old-times rushing in.
As she reached the middle, a wave hit the boat a little. She thought, Must be the wind and carried on. She pushed the paddles back again, by a heavier wave hit. She knew that there was something wrong.
A smaller push moved the boat... Silence went through the atmosphere of the area...
Then the boat tipped over, splashing her in the water as the boat hovered over her. She tredded water, gasping for air. She swam away, not even glancing back. By a loud screech made her stop and stare.
A large creature with a long neck and two legs sticking out of the water was growling at her, snatching her tiny body with his claws. His red eyes glared at her as his over-bite slid into place. He threw her in the air, catching her with teeth and tongue...

A scene of police gathered, collecting peices of wood and paddle. A strong man, smoking a cigar looked out on the lake. He glanced at the mother and father, crying. The man flew his cigar on the ground, stepping on it with his black boots from burning any longer. He rolled his black hair back with a swoop of his hand, walking to the parents.
"Excuse me, sir, but do you know of anything that is in that water?" he asked, crossing his arms.
"Do you mean like alligators or fish?" the father asked, holding his wife with a hug. The officer shook his head.
The wife grumbled with tears. "There's nothing that big in that lake that could destroy an entire boat!" she wailed, rushing inside.
The cop looked at the husband with consetraiton. He knew... That wasn't the first time it happened...
