To everyone that pays attention to my journal..... |

I have an idea for a story I will place in my journal. I haven't thought of a title, but it will be a literate modern fantasy type thing, I think. The modern part is still undecided, but the fantasy is a must. Anyways, it's coming soon.

The "Check This Out" Incident |
|
|
|
|
|
|
Today was a horrible day on Gaia.
"Check this out" was the phrase that would cause a crisis on Gaia, or so to speak.
Here's a summary of what happened, followed by intel I picked up or that was given to me.
Okay, I don't know where it's origins were, but it caused panic throughout the site. The PM read "Check this out". The "This" was hyperlinked to a page embedded with a type of password theft thingy. [Poor choice of words.] It saved your info, but it didn't stop there. It automatically forwarded itself to your friendlist. Despicable!! o_O
I kinda fell for it, but I also sent out a warning PM and an apology PM after that. I hope nobody fell for it.... I wouldn't want that resting on my conscience. I would've taken a hit the first time around because I fell for it and took a while to change my password but something amazing happened. My frickin' browser [Teh almighty Mozilla Firefox] couldn't properly load the page, in turn saving me from being hacked/scammed!!
AMAZING!!! O_O
And yeah, that's how it went. Now for the details.
- The scam PM was very easy to fall for, seeing as all you had to do was click a link.
- Everyone was on edge today.
- The problem has been neutralized by the mod team.
- Firefox is better than IE, Opera, Safari and AOL combined. Can you say "PWNage?"
- There was small crash around 5:00 PM, which made me VERY uneasy because I thought I fell for a phishing scam.
And that's all for now, I guess. but today was hella chaotic.

What happens when I'm bored. |

Okay. I get bored easily and I love to do reckless things. The other day in school, I was assigned a project and I didn't feel like doing it. So since MySpace and Gaia were outta the question, I went to Wikipedia to do some 'other' research. I remembered that I can 'edit' sections of Wikipedia, so that's what I did. The underlined parts are what I added. Your boy is loco, no?

[[11-21-06: The day Gaia was attacked by scammers]] |

It's official. I've seen countless scammers today trying to get my, or someone else's password. They are organized and their names are somewhat believable to an inexperienced Gaian..... This HAS to stop.

And they're apparently organized.....
Today, I've seen so many attempted scammings. It's sad, really, to know that people are so desperate, they're scamming others.....
They are all scammers..... People, I can't stress this enough. DON'T GIVE OUT YOUR PASSWORDS!!

Of all my years on Gaia, I've grown very fond of this site. Like a home away from home, of sorts. And I want to return the favor seeing as Gaia helped awaken both the writer and [[Literate!!^^]] RP'er in me. I've currently taken a hiatus from RP'ing and taken root elsewhere. the Welcome to Gaia forum. I dunno why, but I feel very attached to that place. Maybe, just maybe, if I pointed the newbies in the right direction and began to help [[Not flame]] them, maybe I can actually help Gaia in my own way..... Or not. Even still, I want to help, so I came up with Project: WELCOME. A little project I came up with to help Gaia. Right now I'm the only one in Project: WELCOME, but maybe one day, it'll grow into an organization.... Maybe....
Anyways, that's all for now. Any questions, PM me. I got newbs to welcome.
Oh, and on a Side Note:
Newb/Newbie: A new person to Gaia. Usually a bit lost. Has great potential as a Gaian.
n00b: An annoying person who breaks the Rules/ToS and all around causes trouble. Steer clear of these.
