This book, 439 pages, took me 4 days to complete on & off.

A great story involving my favourite group of Diskworld characters, namely the Watch, I could barely ever put it down - although I had to take substantial gaps for work.
The story centers around Vimes, the commander of the watch, and the touchy subject of racisim or how it applies to the discworld relative to the dwarfish religion. The story also covers Vimes' personal racisim towards Vampires while not distracting from the main story which covers the Dwarf race's racism towards Trolls.

There is a deep underground mystery of a murder which the Dwarfs try to keep away from the prying eyes of the Watch. Of corse they fail in this endevor and only end up raising more suspicion and the Dregs try to keep every preceding fact from Vimes.

The book has high speed - magically assisted - chases and introduces new characters to the Watch. It also has Vimes almost killing a whole mine of Dwarfs which made me think of Dragonball Z for some reason.

In my oppinion, the book didnt really feel like a diskworld novel, because of it's failing to truely make me laugh. Although there were some pretty funny scenes. Vimes' love for his toddler son is touching and makes the book because of the climax of the novel.

I really enjoyed the book, and since it's a discworld novel I am biased to rate it high - which isnt really bias because it's also got a lot to do with Terry's sheer ability to write.
