A Different Perspective...

Author's note: This is from a guild that I'm in. The Walking Dead Roleplay. Yeah, I know. Zombies. Again. This is a bit (ok, maybe a lot) different than what's in the rp. This is simply a fan made story. Creative criticism is accepted. If you're crazy enough to want me to continue, keep pestering me through PM.

Chapter OneUser Image

A brother and sister stand on a mountainous ledge. They look out at the destroyed city they once lived in. They make sure to stay far enough away from the dead cannibals.

The young woman had dyed her hair prior to the infection. The usual coarse, matted red hair was a soft blue with highlights and shades added in. They were fading and her brown eyes had a hardened look rather than the soft, shy gaze before her world turned upside down. Her small frame sported a grungy tank top, her brother's jacket over the cloth on her torso and bloody Lee's jeans. Big steel toed boots looked huge on her child sized feet and body. Despite her miniature size, she was eighteen years old, at the appropriate age to be called an adult.

"Well hell," the man muttered. He scratched his scalp and mussed up the locks of red hair. His thin, gray shirt fluttered in the wind. The trinkets around his neck jangled softly with the movement. Old, concrete covered jeans covered his lower half while new, blood stained sneakers occupied his feet.

Without breaking her gaze from the Sick, the girl asked her brother, "Where are we going now?"

The man sighed and shrugged reluctantly. "Honestly?" he asked and looked down at the small girl. At her nod, he looked back at the Sick. "I have no idea."

Chapter TwoUser Image

The siblings walked down an abandoned back street. Adam, the brother, was looking for a vehicle to transport them, while Eve, the younger sister, staggered along. Her small body had been active for a good forty-eight hours, running from the Sick and looking for someplace to rest for a while.

After another hour, Eve stumbled and fell to the hard and cracked tar. Adam, hearing a light thud, looked back and rushed to his sister's side. "Eve, you ok? You get bit?"

The teen shook her head tiredly and sat up sluggishly. "No, just tired 's all," she muttered. She heard her brother sigh lightly and a dull thud from his backpack. After a bit of shifting around as Adam put his pack on the front of his torso, Eve felt herself get lifted onto her brother's muscular back. "What're you doing?" she asked, looking at her brother over his shoulder.

"Making sure you don't fall behind," Adam grunted and continued, looking for a ride.

Eve stirred on her brother's large back. She looked around and noticed a dirty white van. It looked like it was still functional and had no broken windows. She tapped her brother's broad shoulder and pointed at the van.

"*****? Really sis?" Adam asked, glancing back at her. She shrugged slowly and he sighed. After setting the girl down, he went to the back of the van and tapped on the metal lightly. He waited for five minutes for any sign of life- or the Sick. Deciding that it was all clear, he went around to the driver's side, opening the door and wielding his piece of sharpened metal over his head, ready to strike. The red haired man slowly went in and looked around. He smiled and reached for the key that was in the transition.

Eve stood, waiting for some sort of movement by the van or her brother. She jumped when the silence was ripped by the van's engine turning over. Adam opened the passenger side door with a smile and waved her in. She smiled and grabbed both packs before walking over to the open door. "You got this old ***** workin'?"

Adam nodded and put the van into drive. "Get some sleep, kiddo," he said and noticed a PV radio. He started it and began to fiddle with the channels, trying to find someone who would listen.

Eve didn't give him a second chance to tell her as she leaned back and rested her head against the seat, not tall enough to reach the head rest. She sighed and immediately went to sleep.
