Issue #1 : They say I’m a ‘Shut-in’
[hi my name is….]
that’s how you start a blog right? Some kind of alias, or even just your own name? I’m not sure. A remember one of my friends telling me I should do this. ‘a way to contact the outside’ they had said… I wonder who’ll read this?
My name is Michael, I’m what you would call a nerd….or a geek, I can never tell the distinction.
My hobbies are as follows: video games, anime, toys, and manga. I don’t get very good grades in school but really its never been something I think about. My mind is more focused on what new anime I should watch or what costume I need to work on. Those things are my life. My ‘fixation’ on the Japanese lifestyle of my fellow geeks and nerds has made me take up their title ‘Otaku’.
Life as an Otaku in America….that’s a good title for this blog right? I suppose things must be different here than overseas, not that I’d know exactly. I can tell you why I’m written this now though. I’m alone. I know right?! What better reason to write about myself when I have nothing to write about others. Ever wonder how a person with little to do spends their time? At Home. Usually alone and bored. Watching this and playing that. I don’t get invited to friends houses that often, I don’t go to parties, and I don’t ‘hang out’, I sit at home and wait by the phone or on my laptop and wait for someone to contact me in my little world.
Don’t worry this isn’t a sob story the wining stops there. So anyway, the above qualities also qualify me to be a ‘shut-in’ or someone who is often found at home broken off from the outside world. Sometimes its not that bad, I get to play the games I want, I get to watch all my anime, and I get to avoid the drama from the outside. I cook ramen when I’m hungry and I only have to worry about running out of paper or pencils…I guess I should mention I draw comics. Huh, maybe I should hold that for the next issue…yeah, well I hope to see you all then
