VIVA ITALIA! VIVA AZZURI!

Today, Italy won the Fifa cup, and ALL of Downtown was in an uproar! After the winning goal, all the italians ran out of their houses, running with Italian flags to join the party that was already happening at St. Clair. I know I did. It was NUTS! Italian flags as far as the eye can see! Almost everyone was wearing a soccer jersey. There were bands preforming on the streets. A couple of soccer balls were being tossed back and forth through out the street. The street was closed off the whole time and still is probably. Police were watching the streets and guiding traffic. They even had horse in riot gear! I got to pet a horse, it was smooth. I like the way their noses feel. People were taking pictures and cheering. I learned something. Once your team wins, everyone cheering for the your team is your friend. People were so nice, cheering with me, shouting with me, giving me high fives. These were complete strangers, but they were still friends. And the number of flags...wow. They were HUGE! some needed a dozen people to carry them each. There were people on top of buildings waving flags. People climbed on top of newspaper boxes and other stuff (I know I did). One guy even climbed a Traffic light! I was waving my flag high. Atleast two dozen people were on top of a news hummer. There were a lot of news stations there. Some people rode around the streets infront of the houses in the back of a pick up, chanting and waving flags. People were honking their horns all day! The bars were filled! My sister had a picture of Cannavaro, a LARGE picture. Her boyfriend had a LARGE picture of Gattuso's head. He kept getting stopped every now and then cause people were taking pictures and kissing the head. It was amazing.

Here is the result. After a penalty shot, France was in the lead, 1-0. Then a header from Materazzi tied the game. Now, I am sure no one will forget how Zinedine Zidane headbutted an italian player, just out of the blue. What a way to end a career. Italian won by a 5-3 penalty shot score. Fabio Grosso scored the winning penalty. Now the celebration is over and the Fifa has come to a close. It was a fun, suspenseful, and exillerating. I hope others had as much fun as me! Goodnight all!
