But all we’re good for is getting hit.
The stakes go up.
Our hope flies up.
Only to come crashing down,

If only we’d known.
Then away we’d have flown.

Tonight the stars will dance.
Shining on those with a chance.
They wink their eyes,
As a silent resistance.
Oh, do you love me?

The way to your heart
So you can fix me.
Watch the deceasing night.
We’re awaiting the light.
We are different,
But we shall never fight.
How could we ever be?
Are we simply not meant to be?
I won’t believe that.
For we will always be.
Here’s so beautiful.
And I feel wonderful.
But it won’t last long,
Making my heart sorrowful.

Not forever, just now.

Forever in the Skies
I see you looking at me.
What are you thinking?
Do you care about me?
Or not give a s**t?
Can I believe everyone?
Will my heart just rip apart?
I will give my love to you.
This time, it won’t end in disaster.
In your eyes I see the skies,
Freedom found only in you.
I feel “forever” in your touch.
Will you ever feel the same?
My fears are absent when around you.

Making Amends

Six Months
I sit here writing a poem.
Light in hand; no plan for rhyming.
Just simply a need so strong
And this is the only way to let it out.
Six months ago today,
I remember so vividly it’s startling.
The weather was the same, down to the breeze.
Only a lone star came to play,
As it does today.
This place, time, feel and sound.
Are more symbolic than I thought.
Half a year ago: beginning
Today: the End
I have felt a shattered heart.
And one I thought was full.
And I realize now
Just how far gone yesterday is
And how far away tomorrow looks.
It only leaves today.
So lonely and tiring…
I want yesterday back.
But all I have is six months of memories.

Growing Older
How old must you be?
For a love not to hurt?
To stop a tear before it sheds?
To learn to live once again?
Can I ever love again?
As fully and completely as I do you?
With age comes knowledge.
Growing old is simply a test.
You pass it by surviving.
But what’s your reward?
I see your eyes when you look at them;
Those after me.
I remember that look.
You gave it to me, once upon a time.
And as you aged
You stopped believing in fairy tales.
Reality hit you hard.
