Pamphlets and Scribbles
This is were i will release my original short stories and chapters to my book will come soon.
“Ready?”
“No.”
“But we have been practicing this all week.”
“I am still not ready.”
My friend urged me on into place. We were positioned in front of the old graveyard at about 1:30 am. My friends and I had
been talking about trying to go through the graveyard all week long and I wasn’t ready. The place freaked me out really badly
but I gave up to my friend’s urging.
We opened the steel gate with the large spikes on the top. Weird, I thought, looking at the gate. It usually squeaks when
some one enters but this time it opened without a sound. We slipped into the graveyard and looked around. There was a thud
as the gate banged shut.
The sound sent a shudder through my body as we moved away.
“This place is really freaky at night huh, Jeremy?” asked my friend.
“Ya, sort of,” I replied trying to sound brave. “Sort of looks like that guy’s house down the street on Halloween.”
There was a sound of a twig breaking and I stood rigged, looking around. The noise came from somewhere in front of us and added an eerie air to the cemetery.
My friend almost laughed behind me and pushed me forward.
“Remember, we came for one reason and one reason only,” Sam reminded me, “To see what is in that shed in the middle
of the graveyard.”
“I know,” I said as I almost tripped over a root protruding from the ground, “But why did we have to come at night?”
“Because, it would be more fun this way,” Sam replied.
We came upon a large tree and I saw a symbol that looked like an H. I looked closer and it was an H followed by an e. Help. I
jumped back and looked around and noticed my friend standing behind me looking as if he had seen a ghost. I looked to the
side and saw something lurching out of the bramble.
That’s when the running began. We ran as fast as we could out of there and came upon a small clearing filled with
tombstones. It had been less than an hour since our arrival and every tree we passed had HELP engraved on it. There was a
guttural roar from behind and I saw two more things clamber out from behind trees.
We ran into an area of the graveyard that was infested with small weeds and the tombstones had mold growing over
them. I saw a small glint on one and ran over to see what the thing was. It was a small key positioned on the grave. Me, not
the smartest fellow, I didn’t pick it up but I looked at the engraving: Jeremy Pelk. The date was today and I stumbled back in
terror.
My friend had disappeared and I was all alone. I ran in the direction of the shed and once again tripped on a small root. The
hulking figures were following now. The time must have been nearing 6:00 o’ clock because I see the faint outline of light rising
above the mountains.
As I ran the figures appeared in front of me and I jumped. I barely made it over nicking the thing in the head. I could hear a
soft grunt as I ran on. I could hear thuds and I wondered what the noise was. Not enough time for that I thought as I saw the
shed peak above the horizon. By this time my breath was heavy and my heart pounded against my chest as if it tried to
escape.
I came to the shed and tried to open it. Locked I thought to myself. The things somehow caught up to me and now circled the
shed and stood like statues. The sun was just rising and I realized my mistake by not picking up the key when I had the chance
to.
I looked around and shouted at the top of my lungs and smashed my foot against the door breaking the lock and opening it. I
looked inside and the room was bare with white washed walls and the only thing was a human skull in the middle of the room.
There was a force on my back and I fell forward into the room. There was a loud BAMM! as the door slammed shut and all went
dark.
There was no way to tell time but it must have been over an hour. I kept getting up and trying the door but it was barred. After
awhile there was a noise outside and the door lurched open. My friend peered in and saw me get up.
We hurried out of there and went to the place with my tombstone in it. The things surrounded us and stood still. I realized that
the date on the tombstone was today and I screamed.
There was a soft chuckle from behind me and I spun around. One of the things was taking off its head. The mask was lifted and
I recognized someone from my classes. The other things took off their masks also and they were all students at my school.
“Wha-at is going on?” I asked in a shaky voice.
“Well, me and my friends were talking about how we don’t like getting bullied and we decided we should do something about
it,” said one of the people.
“So we did,” continued another.
“We spent a long time on this ‘project’ getting ready,” said the first person, “We needed to do a lot.”
“Like oiling the gate or locking the door to the shed,” said a girl.
“Or making the costumes and planting a tombstone with your name on it with a key to the shed,” said a person behind me,
“which you weren’t smart enough to pick up, by the way.”
The next few days I couldn’t go to school because of humiliation of the thing. When I finally did, I never talked to my ‘friends’
again.
People would come up and scare me out of my wits and I became very jumpy. Whenever a person saw me jump they would
laugh and point at me. I became the one bullied and felt bad about it.
