Part three finally up
MENTAL
Clair stepped into Darcy's room taking in the scene. Everything seemed so much bigger compared to Darcy.
“Poor girl doesn't need to be going through this.” Clair thought looking at the bed with the metal bars around it, the bland overpowering white walls that enclosed her, and of course the unconscious Darcy who was placed in the middle on top of the covers and many many pillows.
Clair walked up to Darcy’s side tentatively she grabbed a stool and sat down waiting for her to awake.
Darcy’s eyes fluttered open at the sound of the stool scraping against the hard floor. She blinked twice feeling somewhat dizzy she then cocked her head to come face to face with Clair. Darcy groaned loudly and turned to face the wall.
“Go away” said Darcy stiffly.
Clair was hurt by her lack of appreciation for her to come see her, but she still sat there.
“Common Darcy we were really worried about you can't I just see how your doing?” Clair asked
“Why you don't care about me I'm just a problem child” Darcy said coldly.
Clair sighed “What makes you think that sweetie?”
Darcy twitched at that word.
“Don't call me sweetie” she responded.
“Why not?” Clair asked
“Because I’m not your sweetie.” Darcy stated matter of factly. Clair paused for a moment.
“You could be”
“I don't want to, I’d hate to be your sweetie” Darcy said with certain malice and satisfaction knowing she had hurt Clair. She then waited for Clair to leave like her father usually did, a few sharp words and he'd give up that's all it took, but Clair sat there she didn't leave instead she asked Darcy a question.
“Were you ever your mom's sweetie?”
Darcy’s eyes grew wide she flopped back over to face Clair.
“Don't talk about my mom, you don't know her.” Darcy said angrily
“I know she loved you, did you love her?” Clair asked again completely calm. Darcy flared at her.
“No I didn't! I hated her! The day she died was the happiest day of my life!”
Darcy yelled determined to drive Clair away by harsh words. But Clair didn't budge.
“You can't tell me that, I know you loved her just as much as she loved you and when she died you were sad weren't you?”
Darcy screamed infuriated at the stubbornness of this woman.
“Why won't she leave?”
“Shut up you don't know anything about me, I hate you! I hate you!”
Clair was undeterred. “Did it hurt to know your mom wasn't home anymore to help you to comfort you....to love you?”
Darcy picked up her pillow and threw it at Clair. Clair dodged and got up to restrain Darcy. She grabbed her wrists.
“Darcy you need to confront these problems I can help you.” Darcy squirmed trying to break free of Clair’s iron grip. “No, no I can't, I hate you! You’re just like her! Leave me alone!” Darcy screamed angrily.
Clair gave her a stern look.
“Darcy you can't turn me away I’m not going anywhere you may as well give up and tell me what happened.”
Darcy screamed harder and she began kicking ferociously.
“No! You'll leave me, your just like her, you'll leave me!” Clair was confused, “Leave you...your mother?”
“No another one like you!” Darcy screamed again covering her ears.
“Another one like me...”
Clair paused to think what that meant, she glanced up
“A councilor?”
Clair pried Darcy’s hands from her ears.
“Darcy”
She said trying to calm her down.
“Darcy do you mean another councilor, your old one?”
Darcy began trying to claw at Clair’s face. Clair held tightly to her wrists.
“Darcy answer me, what happened to your councilor? Tell me what she did Darcy.”
“No!”
Darcy growled loudly.
“You'll leave me, just like her, you'll leave me!”
Clair was curious why she kept saying she'd leave her, she'd leave her.
“Darcy I won't leave you, I’ll never leave you....I love you!” Then everything went quiet. Immediately Darcy stopped thrashing and she sat still, motionless, almost as if she wasn't breathing. Something broke in Darcy’s mind. Her eyes glazed over as if looking at a different place or...time. She wasn't in a hospital, she didn't see Clair.
“Love me?”
Darcy asked in a soft tone.
“You always said that you loved me, but if that's true why did you leave me?”
“Huh? I don't understand.”
“You don't remember?” Darcy asked looking up at her.
“It was after the day you spent with me, you said you loved me, but then you left me.” Darcy answered slowly as if reliving the events she mentioned. Clair was profoundly stumped.
“Spent the day with you?” she paused to contemplate what she could mean. Obviously Darcy was not here she was looking at a different place and a different time, so she isn't talking about me, and I doubt she meant her father. Clair finally realized what was going on.
“Darcy who am I?”
“Who are you? That’s a weird question to ask Miss Bright.” “Huh?! Miss bright? Maybe this woman was her old councilor? Makes sense…hmmm, alright” Clair said to herself.
She decided to play along with Darcy for a while.
“Darcy you keep saying I left you, when did I leave?”
“I keep telling you, after you spent the day with me.”
“So she was the one that spent the day with you.” Clair said aloud.
“She?” Darcy asked confused.
“Oh sorry.” Clair apologized realizing Darcy thought she was Miss Bright.
“Um Darcy do you know why I spent the day with you?” “Not exactly, you told me that it was your final farewell and you wanted to make it special.”
“Final farewell?” Clair pondered this.
Slowly her eyes widened, she knew the question she had to ask now.
“Darcy where did I go?”
Darcy’s face dropped and her hands went limp. Darcy looked far beyond Clair as if straining to see something, then her eyes grew wide she whimpered and looked away quickly, as if startled by something she saw behind Clair. Clair glanced over her shoulder to see if there really had been something, but all she saw was an empty hallway. She then turned back to find Darcy crouched into a corner trying to cover her self and shivering horrendously. Clair went over to her.
“Darcy!”
She jostled her shoulder till Darcy turned around. Clair stepped back. Darcy’s eyes were full of fear she had never seen Darcy so, vulnerable, it shocked her, but the thing Darcy said next shocked her even more. Darcy responded slowly with her voice quaking.
“Y-you went to heaven.”
