I know Mewkitty personally, and on a recent visit to the states her mother told me that....she...got hit by a bus.
A couple of months ago she was diagnosed with a chronic illness of the heart that had reached critical condition and her mom had informed me that she had suffered a fainting spell in the middle of crossing the street. The driver had just turned the corner and didn't see her in time, so... she met the front of the bus. LITERALLY.
We couldn't even recognize her underneath all the bandages when we went to visit her.
Please, during these hard times, keep her in your hearts and prayers.
As a good friend, I felt I was obligated to inform you all of
her current state.

I'm just now informing, because I returned from the states last week. Usually I don't have computer access when I'm state-side, so I tried to tell as soon as possible.
I hadn't heard from her since February, so I figured it was just the college preparations that were stressing her out, so I decided to visit her on my annual trip to the states. It seems that the angle the bus hit her at caused something in her spinal cord to snap and there is a possibility that she might not fully recover. They said there was a high-chance of her becoming quadriplegic, though nothing is certain at the moment.
And the reason I'm on her account name is because her sis gave me her info, because I personally don't have an account here and had never planned on making one. But since she wasn't even registered anymore, it seems, I decided to go ahead and use her name. Just in case she does recover and will become able to use her name again.
Any other info... nothing cheerful to report. Quite sorry.
