So for AP English we are doing this online program all summer long, which absolutely sucks. Basically we have assignments due every couple of weeks that we have to do, mostly a ton of reading, then some sort of essay or paper to write about the reading. Mostly graded school work, without anyone teaching us. It's an absolute pain, and most of the time I don't understand what I'm supposed to do, and it's graded. I hate it.

Anyways, we were just given this pretty vague project about making a handout. We are supposed to read the book "Mythology" which wouldn't be that bad, but she wants us to make this handout. And for the handout she assigned each of us a section. I got "The Lesser Gods of Olympus", which includes about 18 gods/goddess. But of course she wrote all of the instructions as if we had all been assigned one god or goddess. So I don't know if I'm supposed to pick one, or do them all or what. Though I feel really sorry for some of the kids who got sections like "The Fall of Troy". I have no idea how they are supposed to make their handout, because they don't even have any gods or goddess to write about. Though that may be better then my 18.

So, on to my conundrum. On of the things we are supposed to do is find modern references to our god or goddess. Her example was the cleaner Ajax is named after Ajax the greater (or Ajax son of Oileus, I'm not sure) from the Trojan war. (both fought in the war, yes I'm a loser for knowing that). Well, the interesting thing is that one of my goddesses is Hymen, the goddess of marriage. Do you see my issue? I can certainly think of a modern reference for that, but somehow, I think I might get in trouble if I use it.

...though I can think of a bunch of people that could do it and get away with it. I just don't think I'm one of those people.
