Do you have a dream? Like one of those dreams that you can’t get out of your mind no matter how much you try? The type of dream that confuses the hell out of you but it gets you so happy at the exact same time? I have one of those dreams, only one. No matter how long ago it came, you can never really get it completely out of your mind. It comes in the times where you wish for something more than anything. In my case, it is something I never thought I could have, and yet that just made me want it even more. Mine is not only of a family of my own, but also of a dream home and wondrous life.
You don’t see much of the house in my dream; however, you do see my fantasy that reaches beyond all others. Its Christmas time and the house is decorated completely with green and red. There are little reefs hanging on each of the doors in the house. I hear laughter; I’m only in the hallway. I walk along, passing a beautiful kitchen with a Christmas feast sitting squarely on the middle set of counters. I can’t help but stop in my tracks to examine the room. I step gently threw the frame, noticing there is no door, just frame. Inside a titanium door catching my attention, then I begin to notice the wooden cabinets with black counter tops above them. The walls each are incase with counters but there is an island in the middle of the room, with racks of pots and pans hanging above it. The food was placed upon this island. As I inhaled, my lungs were filled with the most enjoyable smell I had ever found.
The laughter continued to get louder in the other room, drawing my concentration from the wondrous kitchen and back to trying to find the center of the noise. The hall way had many open, and closed doors, but I did not care to investigate them any further than to pass by. At the end of the hall there was a railing, and there seemed to be a staircase nearby it. My foot steps seemed to grow further and my pace get faster as I heard the laughter. I looked over the railing to see a gigantic Christmas tree. Every branch was encased with twinkling silver strains and gorgeous ornaments. The only thing missing on this wonderful tree was a star on the top, which I quickly came aware. It was sitting softly in a padded box placed upon a side table. The table was located next to a deep, velvet red couch. My heart leapt in its camber as I noticed another big factor in this room. A little girl was giggling on her father’s shoulders. Her eyes were twinkling with such love and enjoyment. She looked as though she was only three or four. My husband, who I was too absorbed in the little girl to notice his real features, piggy backed her over to the chair and drooped down swiftly to snatch up the gold star. Gripping it in his hands, he walked over to the tree and jump her up and down on his shoulders while he did. His hands reached above his head to her petite hands which gripped them as tight as she could. Though she seemed small, the little girl could reach nearly the top of the tree when she was on her father’s shoulders. Her arms reached as high as they could with the massive star to place it on the top. Her father held her legs tightly as to make sure she wouldn’t fall.
As you right well know, dreams do not last as long as you wish them to, even if you attempt to fall back asleep after awaking to the real world for even a moment. The dream got as far as the tree and the star and my heart flaring up with happiness before I awoke most unexpectedly. With my heart still rushing, I remember trying to go back to sleep. To this day the dream is with me every second, even when I wish it not to be. It is remarkably curious as to what this dream referred to; however, I just have to wish someday I will solve the mystery, whether it is days, weeks, months, or hours. And now, with my dream said, I can’t help but wonder do you have a dream too? What is yours?
