This is the next section of Isabelle Creour....I know Emma and Maya wanted to see it, I hope the rest of you did too....please please read and comment, and comment specifically!! I want to know what you like and don't like!!!
I keep my head down and my eyes on the ground until we’re in front of the main building, rising up in front of me like some great god. Kids are whispering and pointing, and I feel like I can sense rumors being spread all around me. A middle-aged teacher in a dark green cloak in front of me is trying to get everyone to quiet down. “Alright, alright now, settle down. Settle down!” She straightens her skirt. “Thank you. Now, you are going to be lead to your quarters so that you may put your things away. The student’s quarters are-” “Can we pick our rooms?” A kid yells from behind me. She stops talking, and her gaze seems to swivel and fixate on the boy who yelled. I glance behind me to see him looking a little disconcerted under her glare. She raises an eyebrow. “Can you wait until I’ve finished speaking?” He flips his hair nervously. “Er, yes, ma’am.” She smiles, though she doesn’t really seem happy. “Thank you.” The atmosphere has changed a bit, and the kids now give their focus and respect to the woman. She begins again. “My name is Professor Melloric, and I am the Head of Healing. As I was saying, the student’s quarters are over to your left. You will be assigned a room, as well as two roommates.” There were a couple groans from the kids, but she continued. “We will hand out your schedules as well as your room number. Go to your rooms, and when the Orchid Bell rings, please go to your first class in the Main Building. If you have any questions, please talk to me or Professor Denner, the Head of Creation.” She gestures to a tall man, middle-aged, standing on the steps behind Professor Melloric. He has dark brown hair that is graying at the roots, as well as a pair of glasses with silver rims. His eyes are a pleasant, chocolatey mauve, and the wrinkles around the edges of them show he likes to laugh. I like this Professor Denner immediately. His long cloak is a deep blue, presumably the color of the Creation House, as I assume also that Professor Melloric’s green cloak is the color of the Healing House. I see a few teachers milling about in cloaks the color of a very red rose, and I assume that is for Movement. “Delleure, Isabella!” A teacher at the front steps calls out my name, glancing at a sheet of paper. I make my way toward her. She smiles as I approach. “Isabella?” “Yes,” I say. “Ah, wonderful. My name is Professor Conterrell, of the Healing Department. I have your schedule here. Your room number is 143.” She hands me a sheet of paper and turns to continue calling out students. I glance at my schedule. It looks something like this; Isabella Delleure Room # 143 When the Orchid Bell rings at 7:30a.m. you will wake up. Breakfast is available any time from 7:00 until 8:45. At the end of your classes, you have free time until dinner at 6:30, and afterward you have free time as well. This time is primarily for relaxation and schoolwork, but we encourage participation in extra-curricular activities or extra classes.
*Notes* ~The Library is available any time to anyone. The Advanced List of Books is strongly cautioned for the younger years, however. ~After your first week here, you will have achieved Control. Then you may pick an elective from the list we will give at that date. ~Your books will be provided for you as they come with the enrollment payment. ~Good luck in all your studies here at The Terinealus Penworth Academy!
On the back is a list of extra-curricular activities, the usual types of things that a school would have, with a few odd things that must have to do with Delir, because I’ve never heard of them. I don’t know what any of those classes are about, to be perfectly honest. And I don’t know what the Orchid Bell is, though it seems to just be a bell to announce classes and such. Someone bumps into me, but I’m clutching my schedule so tightly even an avalanche couldn’t make me drop it. It’s like it’s a lifeline for me. I head towards the large building that is the student’s quarters. It is enormous and square, but in the center is what appears to be an outdoor garden area, with benches and things. It’s very pleasant. A little detour shows that behind the building is a field or two for sports, and beyond that, a little building. I squint my eyes, but I can’t make out the words on the sign, it’s so far away. I make a mental note to check it out sometime when I have free time. I feel someone’s hands on my shoulders, and turn around to see Ellie leaping out from behind me. “Hello, there! What’s your schedule?” She thrusts hers into my hands and grabs mine before I even process what she said. “Hmm…” She glances back and forth between our papers. “It appears to be that we have Creation classes and our Movement classes together. And lunch, of course! What dorm have you got? I’m 140.” “143,” I say. “Oh, good, I’ll be just down the hall! Hmm, I wonder who my room mates will be.” She flips one of her pigtails behind her shoulder as we reach the door to the student’s quarters. I’m wondering, too, though honestly, I just hope it’s not Laurie or someone like that. I don’t need to be best buds with whoever I’m with, I just...don’t want to be stuck with two asses for room mates. We enter the student’s quarters, and I have to say, it’s pretty nice. There is a little front hall with a door mat and a bench, and then the room splits into three. In the center, there is a fairly large room with tables and a few bookcases, presumably for studying. Then there is a staircase on one side saying, “Gentlemen” and on the other saying, “Ladies.” Ellie giggles. “Like bathrooms. Gentlemen and Ladies.” I raise one eyebrow. She is so strange. The girls and boys around me shuffle up to their separate staircases, a few of them sharing quick pecks before parting. I follow the sea of girls, all giggling and laughing nervously, and we all know what everyone is wondering; who am I roomed with? Suddenly, I catch sight of a girl up ahead of me. There’s only a split second in which I see her, but the image sticks in my mind like fire. She is talking to someone, but it seems more like polite chatter than actual friendship. Her hair is medium-length and reddish brown, a sort of auburn color, and wavy. She flips away the little wisp of hair in her face as she smiles, and shows her dimples and clean, white teeth. She has a few freckles, but nowhere near as much as, say, Ellie. Her white blouse looks beautiful with her glowing skin and flowing hair, but to be honest, I think anything would look beautiful on her. My god. I snap out of it as someone shoves me, for the second time today. I glance up again, hoping to catch sight of her, but she’s been lost in the waves of girls. Man. I’ve never considered myself to be a lesbian, but damn, that girl could turn anyone gay…I shake my hair out of my eyes, trying to clear my head. Alright, time to find my room, and, more importantly…my room mates. People are finding and disappearing into their rooms quickly, and the hallways themselves, once I reach them, are not nearly as crowded as the stairwell was. Ellie finds her room and heads in, and I quickly head down to the end of the same hall, following the numbers, and find myself in room 143. It’s is smaller than I would have pictured, but much nicer. It’s just a simple little square room, rather cosy, with three dressers, three beds, one closet, and three desks and chairs. The wallpaper is a pleasant rose-colored design, nice upon first glance, but with the potential to become sickening after spending many evenings in its presence. There is a girl standing uncertainly in the middle of the room, and it looks as though she’s even more uncomfortable at this school than I am. She has short hair, dark brown, and it hangs over her face and eyes as though she’s trying to hide herself. She’s dressed in a red shirt with a black sweater over it that appears to be a bit big, and wears no jewelry. The girl is pretty small, no more than five-two, and her suitcase is almost as big as she is. I notice that my trunk has been brought up as well. As I enter, she turns to face me, looking nervous. I give a half wave and mutter, “Uh, hi.” She nods nervously in return. I’ve never been very good at small talk, and at this moment, my lack of talent for it seems to grow and fill the space with discomfort. I stand in the door, fidgeting, until I remember my trunk and pull it to one of the beds, sitting down. There’s a quiet moment in which we both attempt to observe the other without it being noticed that we’re observing and at the same time try to avoid the other’s eyes. I search my mind for something to say. She seems to feel a little awkward too, and suddenly blurts out, “I think they lost my rabbit.” I stare at her for a moment. “What?” She gives a short, nervous laugh, and her face turns a bit red. “Uh, sorry…I just think that whoever brought my trunk up forgot to bring up my pet rabbit, Snow.” “Oh.” I wonder why she’s telling me this. I search for something interesting to say, but all that comes to mind is, “that sucks.” “Yeah.” There is another awkward silence. At that moment, a girl comes into the doorway of our room, carrying a brown rabbit in a cage, and I stare in shock. It’s the girl from before! The one I saw on the stairway, with the beautiful auburn hair…I’m so surprised I don’t even stop to wonder at why a chocolate-brown rabbit is named “Snow.” She glances at us both. “Are one of you- er, is one of you, um, Emma Phillips?” Her voice is sweet and clear, lower than I thought it would be, but still feminine. My roommate across from me nods. “Me.” The girl sighs in relief. “Thank goodness, I was afraid I had the wrong room again! A man downstairs asked me to bring this to you.” “Oh, thanks.” Emma takes the rabbit and puts him down in a little spot between her bed and the dresser. The girl glances around. “Well, I’ve got to find my-” She stops, catching sight of the last suitcase standing by the door. “Hey, that’s my suitcase.” She steps back to see the room number, and starts. “It appears I’ve found my room!” A nervous but friendly smile flashes across her face. “Nice to meet you both, I’m Amelie, Amelie Dante.” I stare at her for a moment, trying to remember English. “Uh, hello!” She watches me, and I realize she’s hoping for an introduction. “I’m, um, Isabelle Cr- Delleure. Nice to meet you as well.” I say it too quickly, and feel my face turn a little pink with embarrassment. Neither seems to notice. Emma introduces herself, seeming to stumble over her words, and Amelie takes a seat on the remaining bed, pulling her trunk over. She sighs. “Well, it’s nice to be able to get settled.” There is a pause in which she sighs, then bites her a lip a bit uncertainly. “Are you two hungry? My mother sent me with some crackers and peanut butter and things. We could have a bit of snack before we have to go to our first class…?” She starts rummaging in her bag. I nod. “Sure.” She really is friendly. As Amelie pulls out some crackers and a small jar of peanut butter, I pull out my schedule, mostly so I have something to fidget with. Amelie takes out her own schedule, though, glancing at it. “I wonder if we have any classes together?” She glances at my schedule. “It looks like we have Creation and Healing classes together! May I see yours, Emma?” The bell rings, though, before any more can be said, and there is a rush as the hallway crowds up with people trying to be on time for their first class. The entire group of kids of our year heads out, all going to the same Control class, but I lose sight of Emma and Amelie. I catch sight of Ellie ahead of me, once we get out to the lawn, walking next to some boy with dark hair. She glances behind her for a second, as if she’s gesturing to the boy, and sees me. “HEY!” she yells, taking the boy by the arm and running back towards me. “What’s up? You know what? I think everyone in our year has Control together! We do it in the Main Dining Hall so that there is enough room.” I glance uncertainly at the boy next to her, who, I now realize, appears to be very feminine. Ellie gestures at the person beside her. “This is my room mate, Jane.” Jane has short hair, all chopped off, dark with dyed blonde streaks, and her clothes are all dark. She’s wearing baggy boy shorts with a big T-shirt, and her bright blue braces shine from the sun when she smiles at me. “Hey-lo. M’Jane.” She grins comfortably, and I half expect her to tip a hat, if she had one. I say hi, with a smile, and then we all head up to the Control room, following the crowd.
