I was just writing in my profile and had to include my dislike of Political Correctness, but of course it would be weird to have a full out rant in a simple About Me section. So here is my rant de Political Correctness.
Fat- Face it, you are not thin, no one wants to see you in your bikini, and you are not big boned. If you eat ten pounds of junk food every day, and don't see why you aren't thin, then something is wrong with your mind, not your body. If you can't run/jog/walk a mile in under 12 minutes, and you are a teenager, then you have a problem. When you say that you have tried to lose weight, and all you have been doing is walking around the block once a week then you are not really trying. If you are truly happy with your fat, then stop complaining about it.
"African-Americans"- Not all dark-skinned people are from Africa. My mom has a friend who everyone calls African-American, and she's from Guatamala (which for you slower people, is not in Africa)! Even if their ancestors were from Africa, why do we still refer to them as African-American, they should be one or the other. If they want to live here and be citizens, then they should be American. If they want to be African then they can go back to Africa. You don't call everyone else European-American, or Asian-American, or even South American-American. I'm white, and don't ask everyone to call me something else.
Religion- I'm not asking you to change your religion, just to respect mine. I'm agnostic. It means that I don't care what group you belong to and I don't want to join it. I don't think that it is right that people want to change age-old tradition just because something has the word God in it. We are a nation founded by Christians on Christian principles. We allow everyone to practice their own religion, but it doesn't change the past. It's like a Christian walking into a Hindu country, and saying 'I'm offended by your religion, so you need to change your lifestyle'. Can you imagine the responses you would recieve?
Feminists- Look, you have your rights, so stop now! I'm female, and I don't get offended when someone opens the door for me. The person who opened the door isn't challenging my rights, they're being well-mannered. I absolutely hate it when someone blows up at you for being thoughtful. Anyway, yes women can do most of the things men do, and vice-versa. But the truth is that men and women are built differently and will never be the same, otherwise the whole having a baby process would be a bit difficult. Girls do not belong in boy scouts, just as they do not belong in boy's PE, or on the boy's sports teams. There are plenty of Co-Ed programs without adding the messy gender-benders.
Well, I'm sure I would be able to think of more but I've run out of steam. Maybe another time...
