Back again, for one last go.
Day Sixty-Four; Phantom Hourglass review to where I am
Yes, I'll be reviewing Zelda; Phantom Hourglass up to where I am in the game.

The opening was just what you expect of a Zelda game that follows up another (like Majora's Mask to Ocarina of time) your told the story of the game before, and what led to the start of this one. With Phantom Hourglass, its not told how long has passed since the end of Wind Waker.

Anyway, about a few minutes into it, and the story gets going, with a Ghost ship appearing. Tetra disappears, and Link stupidly falls in the water (if it wasnt Nintendo, I'd swear they were hinting at a game couple in Tetra and Link). He wakes up on the first island to the annoying reused 'HEY!'. Those who've played Ocarina of Time will scream in terror (as also proved by VG Cats in one of their comics on Phantom Hourglass) as its the same voice used by Navi the fairy in that game.

But its not so bad, every time this fairy has something to point out, you wont be hearing 'HEY! LISTEN!', but rather, the action gets held up and she'll talk. Annoying, but better than the same thing every few minutes. And this fairy will only do it once.

So it takes a little while to get the sword, and you'll be without a shield for longer (also repeating what occured in Ocarina of Time where you could get the sword first, and shield second, and also like Wind Waker where you were given the sword and got the shield some time after). Good news is, you can choose when you get the shield, but its best to get it before you board the ship with Linebeck.

I'm at the Temple of the Ocean King right now, having saved Linebeck who got stuck in a trap. I havent done much past that, but the temple is annoying, taking away a quarter of a heart for each moment you spend out of a safe zone.

So what are my first impressions of Phantom Hourglass? Simple. Its gameplay is easy, and odds are, you'll either already know what to do, or pick it up very quickly. The puzzles are standard for Zelda games. and Graphically, its suprising, considering its on the DS and as such it can't be the best because its on a portable system. But I can now understand why it was given a near perfect score by Famitsu.

My advice, pick it up when you can, you wont be disappointed.
