i had a chance in school once to read robert heinlein's book, strship troopers. but the movie had been SO BAD that i went with anoputher choice.
recently i told this to Karl and he told me that the movie was nothing like the actual book at all, that it was a great book. so i did read it after all.

what i found was a book that was not really a sci fi book, but a book about life in the military. although i had read and dislike Tunnel in the Sky, i liked this book a lot, it was logical and seemed very true-to-life (despite cherenkov drive, the bug war, and the power armor suits)
when i reached the part where the leutenent in charge of the Roughnecks died to save those serving under him, i found myself trying to think back to the CGI Starship Troopers tv show, which i had held very highly above the movie...

didn't that scene happen near the end of the show?

i double checked with my mom, she tremembered it to. so it did happen, i'm not just using a cool scene from the book abd making up something about it.

anyway, i did really enjoy the book, i recomend it.
