Jiraiya was presumbly dead many years ago.No one knows why but now I know why.He has completed a jutsu to temporarily stop your pulse and heartbeat.But it comsumes a lot of chakra.He pretended to be dead and when Pein thought he died and left,Jiraiya ran as fast as he could(without a arm which Tsunade made a plastic arm which he could control at his will like a normal arm)to Konoha.It took him a couple months to get back trying to make sure no one saw him and was slow because of the no arm.Atleast the mystery about Jiraiya is gone!
