I will skip all the boring stuff I wrote about in my real journal, because it will make my entry ridiculously long. Well, I went here to celebrate my birthday, the day before.
Time start: Sometime around 10 in the morning [July 20, 2008]
A tram took us five (Mom, Dad, sister, cousin, me) to the entrance to Universal Studios Hollywood. (By the way, I just live less than an hour away.) One thing to clear up. City Walk is apparently built next to it, not connected to a walkway as I wrongly remembered. My memories can be wacked up sometimes. The line to buy tickets was fairly long. At least we arrived there early. So many tourists and so many fellow Californians. Summer is the best time to come here.
I forgot how much the admission is, but I think it is about $61.00 for the kid's price. This time I went when the adults got in for the kid's price. I was looking forward to the new Simpson's ride. I practically grew up watching that show. What really sucked is the fact that my digital camera did not work so, a disposable one took its place. I am very sorry to those who expected some grand, funny pictures of our trip. Walking into the theme park was a rush of good old past times. I cannot fully describe a detailed experience due to my not so great memory. My sister did videotape it all, along with my cousin. If we ever get a cord to hook it up to the computer, expect to see it on YouTube. I'll provide a link.
We just had to start our day at the Studio Tour. World famous indeed. I remember seeing the actual studio lots where films and TV shows are filmed, dressing rooms, Jaws mini-set, a bunch of Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift cars, the DeLorean from Back to the Future, Jurassic Park stuff, War of the Worlds set, Desperate Housewives set, Grinch set, and many more. I loved the part where we saw the Bates Motel (Psycho movie) and then "Norman Bates" (really just an actor hired for this) carried out a body, saw us tourists, held a knife, and creepily walked toward us. The tour guide was like: "Watch out Tram 4." That was where I and others were. This random guy was like "Him!", pointing to another guy. I laughed. The most dramatic part was when we were brought to an unknown production center. It was a special effects set.
Fire, fake subway, ramming side to side, water, and so on. It scared the heck out of me. Oh, I saw other things, but I am too tired to talk about them. Moe immediately recognized a Big Fat Liar scene where it looks like Mexico then a flood comes. Our tour guide was very energetic and kind, in my opinion. I would have preferred a male tour guide though. Might have been funnier. Oh! There was also a Mummy set thing where the people on the sides of the tram got "stung" from scarabs. Fake, of course. Heidi cracked me up when she yelled "Ow!"
Simpsons ride. Next is truly epic. We headed for the Simpsons ride. The line was so long, you could not believe it. Thankfully, the screens provided good animated entertainment. Though, I got some glances from some random guys. I have no idea why they looked at me sometimes, but that always makes me uncomfortable, so I ignored them. The sad news about the Back to the Future ride is known. At least it was replaced by a perfectly exciting ride. I loved seeing Marge, Lisa, Homer, and Bart after the ride. They were in character suits. We Three Musketeers got to have a picture taken with Bart. He mad a mechanized burp that made me laugh a bit. He is hilarious especially when he kept signaling for us to come to him when the other people were done. Oh, now for the actual Simpsons ride. Let me back-track a bit. The line was long, but the inside looked amazing, more like a carnival. I went inside door 11, along with seven others. A screen talked about safety precautions, and a guy was there (when we went inside where the real ride is) to help us get ready. I expected a normal virtual experience, but man, I was wrong. The ride started off by going higher up (it seemed) to a huge screen all around us (almost). Going from a huge roller coaster, to the town of Springfield, to a huge mouth of a gigantic Maggie, and so on, you could scream your lungs out. That's what we all did. The ride was all dipping, going side to side, and bumping all in one place. It felt real. Seriously, it was the best. I waved at the guy leading us out, to be polite. My parents loved the ride too. We were all laughing.
The Kwik-E-Mart was awesome. When we stepped inside, it was like Simpsons Heaven for me. So much Simpsons merchandise like plushies, figures, shirts, hats, cups, and a huge doughnut. After that, we saw the whole Simpsons family together. My sister filmed all the funny parts. Marge waved at me, I think. Homer and Marge exchanged loveable affectionate love *laughs*, just as a married couple would.
I will be skipping the Shrek 4-D thing. If you really wanna know about it, PM me. xD
Jurassic Park: The Ride. On to my most cherished, infamous, favorite ride ever since I was young enough to go on it. What is funny is the fact that one of the guys watching the line looked like Nate from Gossip Girl. Haha. He kept glancing at me a bit, at least I thought so. The line was long, but the wait was only about 20 minutes. I did not mind at all. I loved the ride before and all three movies. I did not remember how much the ride soaked you (big mistake), so having ponchos was ridiculous to me. I saw a guy with a college shirt that looked interesting. So, Heidi asked what the letters of the university was for. When she kept saying "Hi" (didn't quite get his attention yet) before, it cracked me up. Interesting way to pass the time. On to the ride, the first parts were the usual calm setting. I barely got soaked there. Water is refreshing, nevertheless. Then came the scary-ish part that I adore. The dinosaur with the scary flap things that go around it's head and can retract it, squirted a bunch of water at us (even at the end of the ride). Then a woman speaking from a radio broadcast counted down from 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0.. Boom! We dropped 84 feet vertically. Screaming everywhere. Splash! We were all soaked, coming into the end. I loved it!! Best time ever! Whoo! The photo taken of us was priceless, so we bought it. I will post it soon, if possible. The cool part is the fact that the gift shop is where you arrive. Convenient, huh?
Revenge of the Mummy: The Ride. Now for the most thrilling, fastest ride ever. Moe gave me some warnings, but I was willing to go on the ride anyway. The line was considerably long. Then she saw the same college shirt guy with his family and friends. It was very odd. After a while, I caught a glimpse of someone who looked like Jesse McCartney. Heidi mentioned this, and I completely agreed. Haha, rich blonde guy. He was heading for the single-rider section with some friends. The inside held hieroglyphics and walls made of plastered stone. Heidi stuck her head in this hole, air came out, and I guessed a snake was supposed to "bite" her. The second trick was hilarious. She was going to touch a sacred book, a scary voice suddenly spoke loudly, making her jump back in surprise. Haha! That was priceless! Anyway, the ride was great as far as I opened my eyes. The sudden wind from the speed forced me to. So, I did not like the photo much. The ride went backwards, turned around, and ended so quickly. I went to a machine by the gift shop to have a Mummy penny made to remember it. Inside the gift shop, Heidi kept scaring me by popping out to freak me out with scary objects like a skull cup and mummy. Wah! I bought a cool-looking bracelet with my name on it. Yep.
Okay, here are some things I am going to skip due to not having enough room for it here. Plus, I doubt anyone will read a whole page of my journal. I think my real journal covers more than one page here. List: Special Effects Stages, Fear Factor Live, Animal Actors, and a little visit to the Marvel Store. I would be happy to talk about these in PMs. ^^
Waterworld Show. I wish someone taped the last showing for this (of the day). Were were lucky enough to have made it in time. I loved this show as a child, and I finally experienced it as an older teenager. The line was a bit long, but I could wait even though my legs hurt so badly. We finally got in. A whole stage full of old set buildings, towers, walls, gates, and water stood at the center of the attraction. By the way, Waterworld is based on the 1995 movie with the same name. Waterworld is the #1 rated show there. Cool, huh? It started all happy, climactic change with an evil guy, fighting, happy ending. I adored the beginning, before the actual show. We had an awesome pirate looking guy who made his part of the audience, with me included (and family) cheer loudest against the other sections of the audience. I loved him. He was the greatest out of the other two, older looking guys. Yes, he was good-looking, okay? Haha. The cheering contest was a blast. My favorite was when our guy (blonde) made us cheer high to low then low to high. I loved that! The was almost the loudest I've ever cheered. At the end, the cast was introduced with their real names, famous people ranging from shows like CSI, Journey Man, and movies like Twilight. No kidding. Mariner was my favorite character. Helen just annoyed me. Haha. We visited the Studio Store afterwards.
End of the day. It was 9 at night, I think. We all had fun. Moe was moping around, but only because she did not get to buy a Heroes poster or a Jaws poster. Heidi went all crazy and bought a DeLorean figure (more than $50) bucks. Now that is what I call obsessed. I'm like that too. I helped her with the change and she paid me back later at home. I swear that car would literally be her baby, by the looks of Heidi clutching onto it. Haha, love for you, chum! Truly wonderful day. Done writing.
