I sat waiting in my field. I was on a haystack. The sky was clear and the night was young, the moon having just crested and not many stars showed yet. I tied back her hair so it wouldn't be in the way. I waited only a few minutes before he showed. He slowly sauntered up to me.
"So are you ready?" he asked smirking. He had his hand on a rapier that was tied to his belt.
"Yes, but I wanted to introduce you to someone first. I believe you know her already but I thought you should see her before our little showdown." I gestured behind me as the figure walked out from behind the haystack. As the moonlight fell upon the being Krytys realized it was Haréré. He gasped as he saw her angry glare.
"How are you Krytys? Having fun tormenting Lamia? You know I love her practically like a daughter, I would hate for you to upset her." She said angrily.
"I uh uh uh" he stuttered."
"Lamia has told me all that has been going on. Even though you shouldn't she has persuaded me to let you two duel. She is allowed to kill you. And you her." she said and thought to herself like that will happen
"So are you ready Krytys?" I asked leaping down from the haystack I was on.
"Yes." he said drawing out his rapier. I took out my sword. I gave him no warning going straight for his heart as fast as I could. He slipped past me by a hair's breadth and ran me through with his rapier. He missed my heart and got my lung. I lurched, then falling to my knees pulled the sword out and lay on my back with my eyes closed breathing shallowly, and stayed there.
Krytys bent over to see if he had gotten me. I went for him and missed his heart by an inch once again. I pushed my sword through hard hoping to hurt him as much as possible as he screamed in agony. He tried to shove me off but I took my dagger from my hip and rammed it into his back as he let lose another howl of pain. Taking his oppurtunity of weakness I latched onto him and drew hard. I sucked and drained his blood quickly.
He tried to push me off but his strengh was waning to quickly. When he was nearly dead I released him and yanked out my weapons injuring him further. He made a feeble yelp. I scowled down at him in hatred and disgust. He saw in the moonlight his blood glistening on my lips and putting color in my cheeks.
I knew what he was observing and continued to glower at him but did it a little more smuggly.
"If you ever try to hurt me or my crew or anyone I care for I won't hold back. I'll go all the way and kill you." I said as I left him there and I walked off with Haréré. I offered Haréré to stay the night on my ship but was turned down.
"I have other pressing matters to attend to tonight." Haréré told me. We hugged and I watched her leave.
I headed for town and found the place I had been looking for. I walked into the abandonded warehouse and walked up the rotting stairs to the dimly lit office.
"So you did come." a voice said from the chair behind the desk.
"I did." I said.
"Well sit down, please." the voice said. I sat and the person in the chair turned to look at me.
"What happened to you?" the person asked worried.
"Calm yourself Alexandra. I'm fine. I just had a run in with an old friend." I said smiling keeping from her human friend what had truly taken place to protect her.
"It doesn't look like you ran into a friend. On the phone you said you needed this for protection. Are you sure you don't want some guards too? I could get you these guys. They are real good and they.." Alexandra started to say before being cut off.
"I'm fine really I only came to see you and get what I ordered." I said with a sweet smile.
"Here you go. There is a courtyard behind here that we can try it in that I set up for you." Alexandra said as she slid the gun across the table. She stood and walked to the stairs. I grabbed the hand gun and followed.
We went down into the courtyard.
"Try it." Alexandra told me. I held the gun straight up in the air. I pulled the trigger, instantaneously a huge barrel of blue flames issued form its mouth shooting up twenty feet in the air. I stepped back up to the edge of the wall and shot straight in front of me. This time the flames sent a jet a foot wide and seventy feet long. I smirked.
"So you like it?" alexandra asked warily.
"Love it!" I exclaimed.
I pulled out my walllet. Taking the money out I handed it over.
"I told you, not the full price. You are my friend, you get a discount." Alexandra said giving back half the money. I shoved it into Alexandra's hands.
"Go spoil yourself. You deserve it." I said taking out some more bills.
"And get yourslef somplace decent to live please!" I told her.
"You take care of me like I was your daughter." alexandra said taking the money reluctanly.
"A very naughty daughter." I said smirking.
"Yes I am. Call me when you need somenthing else. I'm sure you'll find me." Alexandra said giving me a hug and walking inside into her back room that served for her bedroom. When I was sure Alexandra was sleeping I flew back to the ship. I layed on my bed in my room. I fell asleep slowly not knowing Krytys was getting up and coming for me once more.
