It happens; to everyone.
You grow up, grow old, grow differently.
Some mature, some... just don't.
When you move on, you lose them. For good or for now, they fall away. They disappear.
Even though they're gone, maybe they weren't worth holding onto, or maybe it was a fight that was lost before it started. You can't force someone to hold on if they simply don't want to. It's like beating someone that's holding onto a piece of wood over a cliff. The more you hit them, the more their grip slips and they just wish they could fall or be saved.
Don't hold on just for the sake of holding on; that's like dating someone just for the sake of them paying for a movie. It's wrong and immoral. Hold on because you have something you want to hold onto.
If you have nothing at all that you can think of that would keep you going, there's no point, right? But, consider if you want to hurt the other person; maybe it might end their pain instead. Maybe it's selfish; maybe it's the most unselfish thing you've ever done. So close, yet so separate and different.
If the caged bird is starved every time it sings its favorite song, isn't it natural for it to want freedom? To be able to sing its tune without being treated like a criminal? Or should it stop singing? What if it was given the choice? What if it was given a chance? What if it chose to fly far away? Would you make its name an explicative because of its choice? Couldn't you just mourn and move on? It's not the bird's fault for wanting happiness, is it?
It's like nothing you've ever experienced.
Today; I lost a friend, and I might be losing a few more. I lost a friend that I had no real reason to hold onto, but I still feel guilty.
Are you disgusting for not wanting to hold on?
For having no motive to?
Does that make you a waste of time?
Maybe, you didn't confront it; does that mean you should be given the death sentence?
Maybe it was something someone else did that made them want to let go, why blame the one that simply wants freedom?
No one should burn the bird that just wants freedom from its cage, right?
Is that too much to ask?
They have no one to blame but themselves; the hard truth and a fact.
... Right?
