Well today ends the first week of the second semester. I wanted to drop out of choir, but the school counselor (who also works the schedules) wouldn't let me drop the class. Some guy named Taylor came into the class from the other choir. Now some guy named Brandon who is in my guitar class is also in. Unfortunately Brandon acts like a complete retard and annoys the hell out of me. Fortunately his partners in stupidity are not in the choir so he did pretty well. I still want to drop choir, but since that isn't happening I'm probably going to half a** my way through the semester.
In all my time worrying about getting my portfolio done I failed my Social Studies class. Fortunately my transcript from the Christian school included a half credit of biology so I did not need to take the second semester of biology. In it's place I can retake the Social Studies class online. It's a two sided thing though. I don't know how long the course runs or when I'm getting behind. To add to the problem graduation is 2 weeks before school gets out for everyone else so I'm on a shorter timeline. I can work through lunch to help scale things up.
I crashed and burned on advanced algebra. My final test for last semester scored 25% which is sadly better than I expected. I dropped the class for an easier class. It's a Bennett class which means the teacher doesn't do anything. He prints up an assignment, you get multiple choice answers you fill up on a scanner card, you scan the card, you get a score you turn in for a grade. Tests work the same way. It's another class with a tight schedule. If I get the Social Studies class done early enough I'll have extra time to work on math.
My Senior Focus class (where I made the portfolio) has been replaced with a U.S. Government class where we learn to be citizens. To start things off we had to take the citizenship test that immigrants are required to take. I scored a 77% and you need 80% or higher to be a citizen. Still I got the 2nd highest score in the class. I also spaced on a few questions otherwise I would have hit 80%. I joked to my friends that they were going to be deported. xd
Other than that all my classes are the same. Honor Choir is next week. I found out that the music given to me belonged to someone else and my music is nowhere to be found. This is going to be a problem. I'll overcome it. In guitar class I'm facing an annoyance. Students designated as "beginners" work a preset schedule working out of a workbook. Since I took guitar last year I am designated as an "advanced student" even though I still suck. My learning schedule is a "self taught" system. I am supposed to research guitar tabs for 2 songs, learn them, and perform then in a 2 week period. For my first song I chose Stirb Nicht Vor Mir by Rammstein because I thought the guitar part would be east, it's pretty tough though so I'm going to have to find something else. Yesterday I was supposed to research new material, but I spent the whole class fixing my guitar. On Wednesday the frets felt a little sticky so I unwound all the strings to clean them and the fretboard. When I went to retension the strings one of them broke. Since you can't get just one string, but instead must get a whole set of strings I decided to replace the rest of them. It took all of class yesterday and about another 10 minutes today to change all the strings and retune the guitar. For the next few days the tuning will suck until I can get the strings broken in. Next week I have to learn both songs or my grades will turn into s**t.
