My journal
A collection of my pointless existence.
Emotions
Emotions are a mixed blessing. They keep us from being like robots or zombies. They give us personality. At the same time if people let emotions rule too much then it can hurt us. They can also dictate our actions. If you are happy and your friend asks for $10 you might give him $5 because you are in a good mood then he's in a good mood and can go get a case of soda. If you are pissed off and your friend asks for $5 you might yell at him because everyone just wants money and nobody gives a rats a** about you. This in turn puts your friend in a bad mood. Of course this varies from person to person as well as how happy or pissed off said person is.

I find it really stupid when people try to use emotions as well as causes of emotions to try and justify their actions. I hate it even more when people who do that turn around and expect others to take responsibility for their actions. For example lets say it's that time of the month for a woman. She can act like a total b***h and it is justified because she is in pain and has hormonal imbalances. A guy could be working customer support where he spends all day listening to people rant about poor service and give him crap he doesn't deserve. If he yells at his girlfriend then he is the jerk. He needs to take responsibility for his actions. She did nothing to him. Of course this is again just an example. Sometimes it goes the other way around.

When emotions dictate our laws there are more problems. Oregon (i think) is the only state with assisted suicide legal. If you are terminally ill with less than 6 months to live a doctor can prescribe poison and let you die. Several people petitioned to have the law removed and it went to the supreme court. Fortunately we got to keep the law. Forcing someone to stay alive in that kind of situation isn't so great. If the family loves them they have to see the victim slowly die. It raises medical expenses. Dying isn't cheap these days either. So if they are guaranteed to die within 6 months, the bills will keep stacking up as long as they are alive, and you have to watch them suffer then shouldn't they get an alternative? I'm not suggesting that a person be forcefully killed. I'm saying they should have a choice rather than being forced to suffer.

I'm just feeling a little preachy right now...
