The Disacheivement Diary
My nighttime dreams and innermost workings...
Predicament
I need help, guys. This is for everyone to comment on because I need opinions and help. I am having a hard time deciding whether to get a job or not. I really need one, but there are a lot of sacrifices and a lot of benefits. Plus mom is wanting me to get a job, and I'm kind of at a conflicting decision.

Benefits:
Money for- new clothes, Senior school stuff, vet bills for the ferret, a laptop and electronic gear, and spare money for Gaia goodies and stuff
Won't have to babysit siblings anymore
Would probably get a good workout if I went back to Sonic...

Sacrifices:
4-8 Hours of free time taken out of my life which I normally use to relax
Summer work
Hardly any friend time

Problems:
7-8 classes next school year, at least one AP class
marching band practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Friday night football games
hardly any time to relax

Please comment and vote.

I'd say get a job.
It's a pretty young adult thing, to juggle your job, friends, school and relaxation time.
You'll find as soon as you get into a routine you do manage to make time for everything.
Have you considered getting maybe a part time job instead of a full time job? Or even a weekend job..
But it isn't me biggrin

Aeris, love... You're pretty much ********.
You have to give some things up if you want the job.
Like, I'm working towards getting a job, and that means
no movie time, I have to, against my will mind you,
pay tithe. But I want a new phone, I want a ps3.
It's the wants we have to consider. And then when school starts
you can reduce your work or quit...

Hmm.. Aeris I'd say get a job, its that time where you should get a job and be able to balance your life with your job, school and friend time. It will be hard at the start because lack of sleep and no relaxation time but you'll make your own time to be able to relax.

I'd say get the job. Having less free time is a minus, but having more money to spend outweighs that for a plus.

Get a small part-time job. I work at my college as a TA and they work with my spare hours instead of against it.
Of course, I live in Cali, so I'm not allowed to have too many hours of work, anyways. 3|

A job ain't that bad. Just get it part time and try to find one that you can do that allows you, however slight, some flexibility with your hours. =3 After all, once you start college [if you decide to], they say that you should NOT have a full-time job and go to school full-time. There's an actual reasonable equation that I'm too lazy to look up right now, but essentially, full-time in college = full-time in workplace.
But that's not what you'll be dealing with now.
For now, you just have to work certain hours. And you may find that your money goes faster than you wish, with all those pros. [Hell, I only bought myself a new bra with my money because it was strapless and I needed one/didn't have one that fitted, and two five-dollar shirts from Wal-Mart.]

Do you know if you're going to have to pay rent to continue to live with your mom after you turn eighteen?
