Once upon a time,
Well actually not that very long ago, I went to Bakkeveen in the Netherlands. We stayed at a farm surrounded by huge fields and wouds. They were beautifull and ancient. They've been there longer then humanity knows.
I still remember the wild horses and sheep. Well, they weren't exactly wild. But free to go wherever they wanna go. It was so big, that i didnt even got to explore it all.
In the woods, especially at the edge of them, were ruins to be found. You know how houses used to be build with wood? well there was one ruin that looked to have been a house. I can exactly explain how it looked, so i'll scan the drawing i drew of the ruin back then later this week.
But anyways, where is this story going to?
I'll tell you.
Because i was so curious of what could have been there, i asked the owners of the farm if they knew. so later at night ( at around 10 pm, sun was setting ) we all went back to the ruin.
When we got there, the male owner ( around 60 years old ) emediatly went like "Aaah.. This one. "
As he saw the confused and puzzled look on my face, he told the story or better said myth of that place.
There used to live a couple, happily married and rich not so far from that place. They were both at around 30 years old although she was probably 28, and not bad looking. Especially her, she was beautifull and very popular with the boys. But like every happy tale she chose the poor and unlucky guy.
At first things were great, even though he sometimes got jealous at all the attention she got. But never in his life did he have the chance of knowing what its like to be rich. Untill now. So as most people buy comfort food these days, he bought jewelry, lots of them. Just cause they looked pretty.
Soon all the money was almost spend for just jewelry, his wife ofcourse confronting him about it. He kept saying "You don't understand, you just dont understand. "
They argued and argued, every time she got home, every night, for weeks. They lost their big and safe house and had to live in this small house made of wood ( which is now the ruin ).
With no privacy at all, the fights got worse and worse. And he wouldn't stop saying " You don't understand " instead of giving real explenations.
You have to know that it was turning dark when i heard this story, and the woods were making lots of unrecognizable noices.
So it kinda creeped me out as he continued with the story.
She had enough of it, and she wanted to leave him and never come back.
He couldn't deal with this, and kept her trapped in the house for days.
at some point it went wrong, she turned crazy, just wanting to leave so she killed her own husband late at night when he was sleeping on his bed. But when she stabbed him in the heart with a knife, the place he hurt her the most, and he woke up, he said " They were for you.."
He died and she cried. She didn't understand what he meant, kneeling at his bed, her hands covered in blood. She cried the whole night, then left him in the cold wet ground behind the house.
Once again, for weeks everything was fine. She got over her grief and moved on.
Till one night she heard the noice of jewelry clinging together. She sat up in her bed and listened, wide eyed. Then all of a sudden she could hear the footsteps of her husband going like bong bong bong bong.
She was at the edge of screaming when the noise dissapeared.
Then days passed again, untill one night the same thing happened when she heared his voice " You..never... noticed... "
It freaked her out so much that she told her brother the next day.
He believed that her husband had died cause of a disease. Since that happened very often back then.
She told him everything that had happened. Everything.
And he understood the one thing that she didn't. " He just wanted you to see him as a rich guy, he wanted to be noticed by you. But all you noticed were the other guys. The real rich guys. "
she cried again and went back home.
A week later they found her body in her house. A knife in her heart, blood everywhere. But there was something written in the blood.
" No one can look at you again "
People believed he got back from his grave behind the house to revenge his wife. And he succeeded.
Story's became myths.
And they say you can still hear the clinging noices of the jewelry at night. And sometimes even footsteps.
It now was fuly dark, and we still had to walk home. I heard footsteps, but luckely they were ours.
I wish i had a picture of that place.
I MISS BAKKEVEEN!

i remember one time I was at my favorite place to go called four quarters farm (we call it four quarters, but it is an interfaith sanctuary/ camping grounds).
so me, my sister and our friends were talking about different stories and what not and it started out casual with jokes and and riddles and what not but somehow it got to aliens the Bermuda triangle and Atlantis. by then it was raining REALLY hard. so hard that we were getting drenched even when sitting under the tent/carport (I don't know how to describe it).
It was also raining so hard that it was creating a downpour mist effect.
so we decided to go from the coffee dragons (that was the name of the spot we were at)
to the stage (which was a stage with a decent roof)
so we got to the stage and we could finally not get drenched but the thing was the stage was open on all sides (it is a decent sized stage btw) but even so it was kinda hard to see good outside the stage because of the rain.
well after several moments (while on the topic of aliens that somehow phased through mountains and disappeared from U.S. government radar{supposedly true story}) i thought i saw something big and black outside the stage.
you can imagine how it felt like. spooked xd . I was pretty much on high alert from there on, just watching trying to figure out what it was but still listening to the stories and giving suggestions/theories to the unknown ideas we were talking about at the time.
sooner or later the rain died down and we ( or i )never figured out was it was that i saw.
(btw if you ever want to know about 4QF (four Quarters Farm) feel free to ask. wink
