A Forgotten Gift
In Hollow Bastion, there is a castle. Perhaps you know it. Perhaps it is foreign. It doesn't matter.
In that castle, there is a hallway, with a floor of stones and large windows. They used to have stained glass, but those are gone, now. There are just empty frames so that the sunlight can enter at its purest. But still, those windows, oh the colors they made...
In this hallway... Look. See that stone? See how some one, once upon a time and so very long ago, carved a little 'L' onto the corner? See it? Good. Now be a dear and lift it up. There we go.
In this secret little hiding spot, there is a sturdy wooden box. The person who used this spot made that, you know. His mother was a carpenter, and his father built buildings. He knew his way around earth and wood and foundations. See how well it has stood to the test of time?
In this secret little hiding spot, besides the wooden box, there is a flower. It's an aster flower. They used to bloom here right at the beginning of spring... Hey! Don't touch it. Use your brain. It'll crumble to dust at the slightest touch. Now, open the box.
In the box, there is a ring placed on velvet. Even in the darkness, it almost seems to glow, doesn't it? As if it was forged from the warmth and light of the sun... You want to know why? Because the person who put it here put all his love, his entire heart, into that little thing. Oh light above...

Most people will go off into speeches, I suppose, when they do this sort of thing, but you know I don't like to waste my words and wouldn't know what to say anyway. I just want you to know how much I love you, every part of you. I could go on, give details, like how we just have to touch for me to feel like the luckiest man on earth, or how you'll make me feel like a fool despite my position, or how beautiful you look among the flowers, just smiling...
But you already know all that, don't you?
I love you, and I can't say it enough. Words fail.
That's why I'm just going to give you this. I want you to know just how much I love you and want you in my life. I have no hesitations, not for this. I've never been so sure of anything else in my entire life.
As I'm writing this, I'm still working on the project with Master Ansem and the others. That's why it's taken me so long to give this to you; I didn't want anything else to get in the way. Perhaps you'll think me paranoid, but I don't want to propose then leave you alone in the world.
