I was talking to my friend Jack about anime, more specifically Steve Blum who voiced Spike in Cowboy Bebop and Mugen in Samurai Champloo. He voices characters in many different anime and video games. I got to thinking how he voiced several bit characters in Doom 3. The more I got to thinking of Doom 3 the more I wanted to play. After digging it out of the software drawer and installing it I looked up a mod to add lights to all the weapons. The game is so bloody dark you can't see where you're going half the time and they won't let you use a flashlight and a gun at the same time so you either fumble around in the dark with a gun or you get a light, but are SOL if you have to fight.

While browsing through other mods I found Classic Doom3. As the name kind of implies it's Doom 3 with the same levels of Doom: Knee Deep in the Dead! It even includes a sound track by Sonic Clang with remakes of all the original music.

My first time trying to play the mod would just cause Doom 3 to crash which is likely due to a conflict with the light mod I added. Anyway I tried to merge the light mod with an automatic shotgun mod which ultimately just fowled up my entire installation. I was pretty much tweaking coding I just barely understood parts of. I didn't really get into level 3 so there wasn't any big progress lost.

After reinstalling it AGAIN I updated it and tried again and this time it worked. I feel like I discovered Doom for the first time all over again. I've only gotten half way through level 2, but I'm really enjoying it.
