Story
For centuries demons and humans have been against each other, dividing the land of Cronis into two territories and a neutral zone near the bottom of the cotenant. The war is always a quiet affair, but it is there. Demon Slayers and Demon’s whom called themselves Slayer Assassins were the source of most of the battles, trying to wipe out the other, but now a new threat has risen up, threatening to wipe out both races. These creatures call themselves Husks, and they are known for their long twisted features, resembling skeletons with stretched out gray skin. Battles broke out against these unusual creatures, but nothing seems to work. Until finally a human magic user and a powerful demon joined forces, using each others strengths to fend off the Husks. They are impervious to Demon magic and Human Magic, but combining the two causes some sort of reaction allowing the attacks to work more effectively.
After discovering the magic’s between the two races worked effectively, it became a common practice for Mages to set out to find a Demon to work with them, though as time passed, the Demons began to be seen as tools rather than partners. Tension began to rise again, just as the Husks started to assault Cronis ruthlessly. All the Mages are sent out to begin ridding their world of these creatures, but first, they have to find a Demon.
Becoming Partners
Once a Mage has found a Demon they’d like to make their partner, they must ‘bind’ themselves to the Demon, thus becoming a ‘Sacrifice’ and the demon becoming a ‘Familiar’. The most common binding objects are a Collar, a bracelet, or some other object that other wise becomes irremovably around they’re Mage. Its possible to bind a Demon to you with out their consent, but it makes them harder to control. The Familiar will be capable of wandering off with out your notice, since if the binding is not willing between both parties, you can’t fully connect with each other.
What comes with being a Mage/Familiar?
Once you are bound to one another, no matter if it is willing or not, your lives are connected. If one gets hurt, you’ll feel it, though if your far apart it may hurt less than it would if you were next to each other. When fully bound, it is possible to die if your partner is killed in battle, so be careful.
Can I switch Mages/Familiars?
Yes, but the process is both painful and hard. To trade Mages/Familiars, you must first challenge their partner for rights to the new binding. If you can successfully remove a Mage/Familiar’s binding object towards the other, you can transfer the binding to yourself.
It is impossible to kill your partner yourself, so if you plan to kill them and be on your marry way, think again. Killing your partner results in your own death, or the attack simply bouncing off.
Fighting
Just because the human is a Mage doesn’t mean the demon has to do all the fighting. Mages can battle just as well as the Demons if that’s what they prefer to do, just as the Demons can be the ones more cable in magic.
Mages who fight are referred to as Battle Mages. Demons who cast magic are known as Casters.
What exactly is a demon?
Demons can be virtually anytype, so long as they have mostly human like appearance. Its completely fine for them to be able to transform into animals.
If its not human it can be considered a demon, all except for vampires, who actually still fall under the label of a Human/mage and can not be binded by a mage, but can bind to a demon.
