When I got to work today, I was not expecting anything out of the usual workday but I was so surprised by what happened around 2:50pm when I was at lunch.
All of a sudden, the store com is turned on and the store third manager comes on and tells us; employees and customers to leave the store right away. Two other co-workers and I rush downstairs and were the last to leave the store. Seconds later, around 7 to 9 police cars come roaring up and we are told that there was a bomb threat by someone in the store. After a few more minutes, two k-9 units, a bomb squad truck come up while the police block off the entrances to the parking lot of the store. One bomb sniffing dog is sent in after the police take the suspect out and place him in the back of one police car. His dog is placed in the car with him until the k-9 makes sure that the store is clear. After about an hour spent in the cold, we are allowed back in first and asked to make sure that our departments are all right. Some twenty minutes later, the customers are allowed in and the rest of the day goes normally.
I had to deal with a load of burnt bread but other than that, it is almost normal.
