kuze here! hope you like my posts
the lost diary
A girl was walking along the usual path in the park, occasionally taking pictures of birds and the breathtaking scenery. as she walks deeper into the woods, she stumbles upon a book, and not just any ordinary book, but a diary. intrigued, she picked up the diary and opened the cover to see whom it belongs to. she found no name written on it but the words “the journey for the other half” was innocently written on the first page. curious she may be, she never opened the diary any further but instead looked for the person who might have dropped it. the day passed but the girl never found the owner of the mysterious diary so she took it with her on her way home. she placed the diary on top of her desk to remind her to look for the person who owns it first thing the next morning. morning came and went, and so is the afternoon and the evening but still, she haven’t found the owner, everything ended up in vain so she placed it again on top of her desk. after dinner, she started on doing her work, her assignments, her projects and everything, but every once in a while, she was interrupted by the temptation to read that diary. finally, the temptation got the better of her and she found herself reading the first entry in the diary.
February 2, 2008. Saturday.
she’s already gone. gone are the days when my heart leaps in joy every time i see her. gone are the days where i can feel at ease just by sitting right next to her. she meant a lot to me, she was my everything. but now, all was lost, in just a few words, a few moments silence and the thousand steps she took, from that minute and to where she is right now, every happy memory came crashing down, broken like a mirror and turned into water, water that ran down my face. every smile she made, every words of comfort she said, every loving moment, all of it, was washed away with my tears. my strength gone, my hopes gone, my will to live, vanished, in that few moments. during those slowly passing minutes, my life changed, my heart, crushed. and now all i feel is pain. pain that she always takes away with a kiss. but now, who will be there to take away this pain? i have nothing, and no one to hold on. she was gone…
as she finished reading that entry, tears swelled on her eyes, and ran down her face. she felt sorry for the guy who wrote it. somehow, she know how the writer might have felt, being left alone wasn’t new to her. and so she slept with her arms around the diary.
the next day came and gone but still no sign of the writer anywhere. as she sat down on her bed, she opened the diary again and read the 2nd entry.
February 14, 2008 Thursday
time passes as silent as the wind. we never notice it but we know for a certain that it already came and gone. it passed me silently, it passed by me without me knowing, but it passed me slowly and painfully as god could allow. sometimes i wonder what in the world did i do to deserve such suffering. what have i done wrong that deserves this kind of punishment. but then again, as i look back to the days, weeks, months and years that passed, all i ever did was to love and i have loved so truly, so deeply. with that in mind, i ask myself, why is the world so unfair? why is it being unfair to ME? of all people, why does it have to be me? i’ve done nothing wrong. but maybe my friends are right, i lose someone i cherish to be replaced by someone better. that’s got to be it. but somehow, i still cant believe every single word of it. “someone better” eh? well, if there is someone, i wish i could find her soon…
the deeper she read, the more stronger her desire to meet the diary’s owner. the days became weeks, and the weeks became months as she look for the diary’s owner. then one day, the news covered a guy who tried to kill himself but failed. the reporter suddenly showed a book that resembled the one that the girl has. and outside the diary, the words “the other half” was embedded. the girl instantly knew that the guy who tried to commit suicide and the diary’s owner are the same. she waited for the reporter to say which hospital the guy was confined. she drove her way to the hospital specified by the reporter and asked the lobby nurse the room of the said person. she clutched the diary more tightly before entering the room and hoped against hope that he was safe. she saw that the guy was unconsciously lying on his bed. she approached the bed and sat beside it. she placed the diary on top of the desk, took his hand and said “dont give up on your life just yet. you may not know it, but there’s someone who’s willing to share your pain.” she paused, wiped away her tears, then continued. “i-i’ll be here for you, you dont have to look, you dont have to wait, i’ve come, and i promise never to make the same mistake the world threw at you. just hold on. you can rely on me for strength. from that first entry i knew, you were just like me, i felt alone, hurt, and unwanted. but after reading your diary, i realized that there are people whom i can love, people who can love me the way i love them. and i knew that it’s going to be you. so please, be strong. i need you. come back and i promise you’ll never be alone again…”
the girl continued crying beside the guy’s bed, and when the nurse told went in to tell her that the visiting hours are over, she reluctantly left the ward and decided to stay outside of it through the night. not long after that, the nurse went out looking all excited about something.
“are you, a relative of the patient?” the nurse asked.
“well, no. i just brought his diary, he dropped it off in the park.” she replied, then added “why, is there a problem?”
“actually, no. on the contrary, he seems to be recovering faster than we expected. he seems to be fighting to stay alive.” the nurse told her.
“really? that’s good news!” the girl exclaimed.
“well, i guess i’ll be going now. maybe you should go home too, you need some rest too.” the nurse said.
“okay. i’ll drop by tomorrow.”
the next few days saw the improvement of the diary’s writer and after a week, he was released. the girl was waiting for him outside the hospital. the guy approached her and shook her hand.
“i heard from the nurse that you’re the one who picked up my diary. thank you for returning it.” the guy said.
“it was nothing. im sorry but, i’ve read it.” the girl confessed.
“i know, i heard you telling me that. when i was unconscious, i could hear you, i could hear your voice, feel your tears falling, and feel your hand holding mine. that gave me the strength to live. that gave me a new reason to live my life.” the guy told her. she remained silent, feeling herself blush a little.
“i promise to share your pain, too! never again will you ever be alone.”
a year later, they were married, was blessed with 2 children, and a love that will never seem to die. a passion in each other’s hearts…
