Eamon and Saka go to Ireland to mend some loose ends in Dublin. Part 3.

"Hold up!" Cait exclaimed, getting to her feet. "What's that noise?"

"We'll get it," Eamon said.

"Dude! It sounds like an incredibly wild animal!" Ennis argued.

"I said we'll handle it," Eamon snapped. He and Saka exited the house.

And there stood what Eamon had hoped they were all imagining: a kyuuketsuki.

"I'll get it," he told Saka. His eyes took on a lantern-like glow, and he hardly noticed their company sneak outside.

Eamon drew his sword, the blade glinting in the dim moonlight. He began to growl, baring his fangs. He bit into his thumb and drew his blood across the blade. "I ain't playin' nice!" he snarled. The Kyuuketsuki screeched.

Eamon bit down on his back tooth, and he was gone. He tore his blade into the creature's heart and then sliced it in half. He then seared its head off. The creature exploded into red bits.

Eamon turned, eyes glowing. He sheathed his sword, and his eyes fell upon Finbar, Ennis, Aidan, Cait, and Reed. All except Reed looked absolutely terrified. Eamon looked down and Saka went over to him.

"Eamon," Reed said sternly, making Eamon flinch. "Inside right now. You have more explaining to do."

Slowly, they went inside. Eamon sat back on the couch and buried his face in his hands. He could smell their fear and yet...they had curiosity. He felt a hand on his shoulder and lifted his head to find Saka.

"Explain," Cait said, standing and staring at him with tears in her eyes. "Why did you suddenly become like that? Your eyes were glowing! You had fangs! Eamon, did you get dipped in radioactive waste while you were out there?! What happened!"

"Quit yelling," Eamon snarled, rubbing one ear. "It hurts." He kissed Saka's cheek and stood up, fingers shaking. "You can't tell anyone," he said softly. "You promise?"

The four nodded.

"Saka and I are what's called Beasts," he said. "Half-human, half-animal creatures. That thing I just killed is called a Kyuuketsuki. They can only be killed with Beast blood."

"So...you're...part...animal...?" Aidan whispered. "Eamon...how...why...this isn't..."

"I know it's, like, totally fictional," Eamon said. "But I had no idea it was real until I found Elysia. I was turned into a Beast by Saka." He gestured to his mate. "Because I was dying, and the only way to save me would have been to turn me into a Beast."

They all stared at him. "...well then...what animal are you?" Finbar asked softly.

"We're wolves," Eamon answered. He looked at Saka. "Can we?"

She shrugged. "Sure."

Eamon glanced at them and sighed. He shifted into his still-growing puppy form as Saka did the same. She was much bigger than he was, but he was growing.

They all stared at the two in shock.

"...you're...so...so cute!" Cait exclaimed, rushing over to them and kneeling beside Eamon. She reached down and cautiously began to pet his head. Eamon's ears raised, and he looked up at Cait. However, he relaxed and allowed her to pet him. Reed leaned over and carefully began to pet Saka. Both wolves began to purr.

"...are you purring?" Aidan gaped.

"...oh. Was I?" Eamon asked. "Sorry. That feels really good..."

"I didn't think wolves can purr."

"They can't unless they're near their mate: a.k.a. their significant other."
