Chapter 1
"Dungeon" the soldier ordered. Another guided the chained up string of people into the chamber. The prince watched intently. Something made the intent-ness go away. It was a girl. She was especially sad at the fact of their capture. She had short, blonde (yellow?) hair with a tattered white ribbon sitting on her head, and deep blue -yet dull at the moment- eyes. His heart ached at that sight, she was such a dainty, elegant girl, and yet she belonged to such a cruel country. Was it wrong to chain her and her brother up? He'd decide later. 'My age... decent bride' he shook his head "mentally". 'Now that's stupid! She's a slave, and I'm a prince...'. He shook the thought out. 'Come on. Looks don't determine a personality much' a battle strategy. Your enemy could be small, but strong and fierce, or your enemy could be big, put could have many crucial weaknesses. She disappeared into the dark chamber with her brother and he turned away. The soldiers fallowed them in, and even after the dungeon was long out of sight, he couldn't help but think of that girl. 'Maybe it WOULD be right to at least have a room in the village... or the castle' he thought. "Kaito? Kaito!" he heard the voice and turned around to the sweet sight of his little sister, Miku. "Yeah?" he said. "Did the slaves come in?" she asked. He nodded sadly. "what's wrong?" she asked, tipping her head. "Nothing," she shrugged. "Anyways, the council said the banquet is short one servant... I was thinking we could use one of the villagers for a while, but then I thought if we used the slaves! Can we?" she said, clapping her hands together. "The slaves?" he thought. Why the slaves? They couldn't be trusted! What if they raided the banquet, and.... Well. It was only one slave. They couldn't face an entire banquet of royals, with gaurds everywhere. "That's... brilliant!" he said. He hugged her. "Oof!" she shoved him off. "Ok, ok... Seesh, brother, I like your respect, but lay off a bit!" she smiled.

Kaito stepped down into the dimly lit dungeon. As he passed the cells, some of the slaves cursed at him. He ignored them and made his way to the end. It was dark and caked in shadows, in the girl's cell. He heard the light clanging of chains, but he couldn't tell from what cell it was in. "Hello?" he called.
Nothing.
He tapped on the cell bars. Still nothing. He squated down and squinted through the darkness. Just then, two hands shot between the bars and took hold of him by his blue muffler. He "oof"ed and slammed against the bars. He was dizzy for a minute. Once he regained his senses, he was staring straight into the face of the girl. Her blue eyes sparkled with hate. "You!" she shouted. He panicked. What would he do? "Uh-" "You're the prince, aren't you?!" she growled at him. He stared wide eyed at her. "Let me go, or I'll.... I'll call the gaurds!" he grabbed at her hands and tried to tug her off. She let him go and he fell back. He sat there stunned for a minute. She shrank down into the back of the cell, still keeping her eyes on him. He took a deep breath and stood up again. She shifted, like she was going to stand up, but shifted back into a sitting position. He noticed she was still chained to a short peg in the ground. "Anyways" he said. "I have a favor to ask of you." he said, standing his ground. She glared again. "What? Want me to kill myself early?" she said. "Not at all." he shook his head. She looked at him with a sarcastic look. "Actually, it's comepletely opposite. How would you like to work at the castle?" "What, as someone who gets whipped for entertainment?" "No, as in a servant" she thought for a minute. "...I guess... Will I be able to go afterwards?" "I'm sorry, but I can't do that" 'She's making it so hard!' he thought."But, I will give you your own quarters in the castle, and you won't be treated as a slave." she thought again. "Hmm.....Ok..." he relaxed a bit and unlocked the cell door. She sat there. "Oh" he said. He stepped in and unlocked the chain. She stood up and stretched. She followed him out. "Oh" he remembered again. "I didn't get your name" "Oh, I'm Rin... Kagamine, Rin Kagamine." he nodded. They barely started moving when she tapped him on the shoulder. "Wait" she said "What about my brother? I can't leave him here..." she looked at him, and Kaito followed her gaze. Her brother had the same color hair, probably even the same length, but it was tied up in a short ponytail, and he had messy bangs. "Well..." the banquet didn't require another servant... "I guess..." an idea occured to his mind. "Hm... hey, how about your brother works as a farmer-" "What?! No, stupid! What I mean is that can he work with me in the castle!" "No, let me finish!" he crossed his arms. "What I was going to say is that I can't have to many servants, but we need farmers. If your brother works as a farmer, I will let him stay in the castle and eat all he wants" she looked at him, and back at her brother. He nodded. "Ok." she agreed.
Kaito stepped over to the cell and unlocked the door.

Chapter 2
Kaito sat down on the bed and spread his arms to gesture to the large room they had entered. "Here you go! This is where you two can stay!" he said. Rin didn't look impressed. She shouldn't, anyway. It was only on the second floor of a four story castle. The walls and floor were old, dark planks. Two dusty beds had the headboards against the wall, a window and nightstand between them. The window looked out on the beach and farm fields. There was an old vanity on the opposite wall, and next to it, a wardrobe. Len looked around. "It's pretty old..." he said. Rin "hmm"ed and thought for a moment. "I know" she pondered. "With the money we make here, we can visit the village to... Spruce this place up a bit!" she said. Len nodded. "Good idea" he said. Kaito forgot -- there payment. How would he fit these two in the balance? Half the gold mined to the royals and staff around the castle... One quarter to the village... Another quarter to be saved for special events, like the parades and feasts. How would they fit in? He couldn't exactly change all of it in one night, or even for just two mere staff members. The balance was strictly half to the permanent staff already joined... and if he couldn't split the castle profits... he would need to use some event funds, and even his own money for them. He sighed. Rin looked in surprise at him. "What? Is that not a good idea?" she said. "No no, I'm not talking about you... It's just some castle duties I have to take care of" he lied. Rin shrugged. "Anyways" Kaito shook his head. "Let me show you around the castle... and how would you two feel about new clothes and food?" he asked. Len and Rin looked at each other in happiness. They nodded vigorously and followed him out the door.

"And here," Kaito pushed open the door "Is the royal's fitting room". The room was relatively big, about twice as big as the bedroom. It had cream wallpaper and mahogany wood flooring. There was a big framed mirror in one corner, and racks and racks of fancy embroidered clothing. Many were dresses, others were capes and tuxedos. Even a few shelves on the opposite wall had boxes of hats and shoes. Rin's eyes sparkled at the sight. "Wow!" she said. She ran in, like she had just discovered CandyLand. Len followed a bit more slowly. Rin took a few things off the racks and shelves, slid into the the small curtained section, and hopped back out with a frilly pink dress and a ridiculously large green hat. Len stared at her. "...Really?" he said, not impressed. "Oh come on, I was just kidding!" she threw off the hat and went through the other racks. She mumbled a few things, "ooh"ed and "aww"ed at almost every dress she passed, then something particular caught her eye. She took the hanger off and slid back into the dressing room. She slid out again, in a white silk dress. It went about down to her ankles. It had frills along the ridges, and the skirt tied up near her waist, like a royal sun dress. It had a thin, tied bow spilling from the back. "I want this! This is my casual wear~" Kaito nodded. "Cute" he said. Rin smiled. "Len?" she said. "Find something?" Len tapped his chin, not taking his eyes away from the racks. He smiled and pulled something off. He slid into the dressing room passed Rin, and came out again. He had on a white polo, the sleeves folded at his elbows, a black vest, and black knee-high baggy shorts. "Nice" he said. Kaito nodded. "That all? If it is, let's go get some dinner" Rin nodded and she and Len followed him out the door gain.

"And here..." Kaito stopped in front of colorfully-glassed double doors. "Is the dining room" he pushed on the doors and the light streamed in. The room was way bigger than the bedroom and fitting room combined. There was a long table. It was U-shaped, and the opening of it faced them. "Is the middle for entertainment?" Rin pointed to the large gap in the middle. Kaito nodded. "We sometimes hold dances here" he said "At feasts, the performers and jesters are invited" Rin nodded in awe. He lead them over to the side of the table and sat them down. Some of the royals stared confused for a few moments, and went back to eating. Others either could care less, or were to involved in their conversations to notice. In front of them, on the edge of the table, were bowls and plates of fresh-smelling meats and salads. Len grabbed just about anything in reach and chowed down. Miku stepped between Kaito and the chair next to him and sat down. "Hey there!" she said. A girl with a long side ponytail, a green dress, and blue eyes sat down with her. "Hello Miku, Neru" Kaito nodded to her. She waved and smiled. Len looked up from his plate and said Hi. The girls looked at him and didn't say anything. He wiped his mouth with the cloth on his lap and said it again. Miku waved slowly and looked back at Kaito. Neru looked away and began to choose her meal. Len looked a bit hurt, and turned to eat again. Kaito looked at them, and back at Miku. "Oh" he said. "These two. These two are the slaves I picked out from the dungeon" Miku nodded and listened to the rest of his story. He told her all of it, all the while keeping it a secret that the real reason was to get the cute little Rin girl out of it.
