Inspiration turned Fiction
I'm bored and interested in writing, that's all the reason and the description that I need for this...
The Rest of Eternity
Karteley Trinculo Pedrolino was known in many social circles throughout the continent for some of her star roles in films. And her comedy was unmatched by modern traveling comedians. At the age of ninety-three, it was hard to find someone that hasn't seen her work. But in spite of the many suitors that chased her in her long existence, none of them were given her affection. Whenever someone tried to court her, they were denied with the simple retort that she was already taken.

Many of the people in Elondri, where the star had settled down in the middle of her career, pondered the existence of this unknown lover. They often believed she was lying. But the scholars, ones that gleamed knowledge from the ancient texts of Elondri's long line of Court Mages, had suspicions of their own. Some of the youngsters had caught her staring at the aged portrait of Dragomir Fane Ionescu in the castle of the royal family. The fact that some of his teachings had mentioned a green-haired woman in his past...

In the end, no one had correctly deduced the reason she was still single. Suspicions remained just that and nobody had the heart to question her. They left her on her own in the cottage in which she resided, a building constructed over the ruined remains of the Ionescu's childhood home. And it was there that she lived the remainder of her life. Friends, the ones that she traveled with in her youth, came to visit here and there.

Bananda was her most frequent visitor. Even in the decades that had followed her departure from Ation city, the pair had kept in contact. Tik came in second, while the others only visited once every few years or so. Except for Damien. Nobody had seen him after his twenty-fourth birthday. The group believed he was still kicking somewhere. Karteley more so than others. She had seen clues of his presence over the years. He was looking out for them.

And now, the conclusion to an otherwise unfinished love story...

XxX

Karteley awoke to moonlight illuminating her small bedroom. Her instincts were in overdrive as she pushed her awareness to check for unwanted company. Tiredly, the old woman sighed and rolled on her back to watch the moon through her window. Another sleepless night.

“Rebira resides on the moon, ya' know.”

Kart turned her head to see the source of the familiar voice and felt ice flood her veins at the sight that greeted her.

“... Dragomir?”

He was exactly the same as she remembered him. Sure, the hair was somewhat longer and his body had more scars than she recalled but that was him. The amused glint in his eyes warmed her heart more than anyone thought possible. It was good to see him. But that was impossible! He was long since dead in this timeline! “H-How?”

The former Court Mage leaned against her door frame, arms crossed against his chest.

“I am dead. But the merciful Goddess, Rebira, decided to reward me for aiding in the defeat of Jelorent. Rebira offered me the chance to act as your guide.” The man explained.

“Guide?”

“To the afterlife. You did what I wanted. Kart, you've led a wonderful life, one filled with achievements that few could hope to surpass in the coming decades. You were happy even though I was never coming back. Now it's time to go.” Dragomir smiled sadly, offering his hand to his beloved.

Karteley grasped his hand, feeling a cold shock move down her spine as she departed from her mortal coil. Her soul resembled that of her in her early twenties. The Magi whistled in appreciation, causing the now young woman to blush with embarrassment. Still, she was more serious than he could ever recall her being.

“What is the afterlife like, will we be separated...?”

Dragomir noticed the undertone of her voice. The nervousness that relayed that she didn't want to lose him a second time. In response, the brunette smiled and hugged her for everything she was worth and more. “Not this time, sweetheart. You aren't getting rid of me that easily. We've got the rest of eternity.”

And with that, Karteley Trinculo Pedrolino, one of the heroes of the continent, beloved actress, and friend, passed into the afterlife, leaving a lifetime filled with the love of her many friends and fans.
