Lanzer's Journal
Creepy Remote Desktop is Creepy
Thank you to all Gaians who offered their desktop for me to access. So far I've found 3 different bugs with inventory arranger:

- Items refuse to move at all. Happens on some Chrome browsers. Mouse pointer changes to the "no entry" sign when it happens. In one instance this happens over one tab, while it works on another tab.

- An error occurs after hitting the save button.

- Inventory order is scrambled after saving

I've witnessed the first 2 but haven't collected info on the third yet. While trying to co-ordinate effort I start to realize how sporadic my schedules are. The typical days are filled with meetings with internal staff and other members, then there are blocks of time dedicated to answering PMs, responding to threads in the forum, and between that and eating, I actually only get to code in small blocks of an hour or two here and there. The period which I can actually get consistent work done is after 12am when everyone at home are asleep except me, and I can have a stretch of 4 to 6 hours of coding time. Then I have to convince myself to go back to bed so I can get back to the office on time. (I usually fail and end up arriving at 11)

Getting back to the issue, I think I can resolve issue #2 after having collected the data, while I still need to find an example of issue #3. Issue #1 is illusive and I'll need to find out which Chrome built or settings had led to the problem.

I actually have a deadline to complete a design document for Gaia Mobile. So probably need to stop for a few days before that's complete.

Today is work at home day. Strider just had his hip replacement surgery yesterday so today we need to carry him home from the hospital and tend to his needs. He is now better, stronger, and faster... but not till 6 months later when he fully heals. cat_gonk

I wish I can tell you to slow down but I bet the amount of stuff to be fixed in this site is tremendous D:

I wish we can ask volunteers to work but I'm sure it'll be complicated that way in which volunteers can code but not have the ability to actually mess up the site more ;w;

Those are errors I've had trouble with in the past. I just keep my inventory low to avoid those issues so it would be nice to have the chance to have all my items back on one account.

The app is its own problem so I totally get putting other projects on pause to work on it. More over when there is a deadline o:

I hope your pet recovers well and I'm happy to hear the operation went well.

While it's great that you've been so open and willing to answer PMs and address our concerns personally, I think everyone would understand if you set your PMs to "friends-only" for a bit so you can get your work done and fit in some sleep at night. Especially as your dog needs extra care at the moment too.

Your work ethic is incredibly admirable, but sometimes it's more efficient to delegate some of the work than try to do everything yourself. sweatdrop It'll be no good if you end up making yourself ill from overwork.

I hope Strider feels better soon and manages to get lots of rest while he's recovering. heart

Thanks for all the hard work, Lanzer! Almost 3 weeks into the new year, and I've had more staff alerts, updates, and small bug or idea things fixed or implemented -- it's great! Gaia hasn't been THIS exciting since 2 years ago when I first joined.

Hope the healing goes well and strider doesnt do too much to agrivate it.

I have never been able to drag items in my inventry in chrome. I just assumed all chrome browsers were like that, and used FF when I wanted to arrange stuff...its the only reasons I keep FF.

my version is Version 55.0.2883.87 m (64-bit), but its happened across all updates in the many years I have had chrome.

(There isnt a item limit where that breaks in chrome per chance?)

You work so much!! It's admirable to see your work ethic and splitting your time into blocks to get things done but make sure!! to always rest comfortably!! :-"((
Spend more time with Strider :-"(((

Other than that, I haven't been this excited and active in years. Having you back is big breath of air! There's a lot of change and transitioning this month that I'm always looking forward to the next staff alert whee

Thank you again for all your hard work, Lanzer. I know you want to make us happy and catch up with bug backlog, but please, get yourself some steady sleep going. We want you to not burn out even more than we want you to fix everything. It's okay that you're not superhuman.
